Personally, I love Spy27. I do not EDC my PM2 but I do carry it frequently. I love how easy it is for me to get to a keen edge and feel that edge retention is pretty good. I got my BIL a SPy27 Mule and he does EDC his. He loves it but does not sharpen, he stops in at the SFO to have them touch it up...
Wow, I'd love to see the scars on that blade. Nice thing about a knife at this price point is that it WILL get USED. Though there are naysayers out there, I'm convinced that Spyderco's 8Cr is better than other knives I have with the same steel. Edge retention is good for what it is and it takes an e...
I was gonna wait for the K390 version but I got a crazy deal on the VG10 version on Black Friday. I knew I would like it but I am surprised that it has taken over my rotation. It’s a perfect pocket knife. I will 100% buy a K390 variant. That's exactly what I did. Took advantage of that sale to get ...
I use the corner of the stone and just lightly drag it across. Works well, but I do need to refine my technique. The knife is the bomb for $35! And if the Hawkbill blade doesn't appeal, the Meadowlark comes in a wicked SE Wharnie version. I think you need both! I do. https://i.imgur.com/FjwE7oO.jpg...
Am I just seeing things or is a different yellow than the other Salt yellow? Looks noticably more orange. I've seen the Salt yellow vary in shade between models over the years but I wonder if this is intentional to differentiate the steel? When I saw this in person at the SFO, the color didn't appe...
Why make a Survival knife lite? They need to have mussel.🤔 For survival in extreme conditions, fixed blade knives are more suitable! IMHO Your point is valid be when doo doo happens I would rather have sturdy folder verses nothing or lightweight. Honestly if packing a 3oz., v/s 5oz folder is killin...
No, I sharpen on the point (edge) of the rod. I draw it across and slide down just like I would a plain edge. Just today, I finally got this knife so it will push slice trough receipt paper. Turns out I hadn't gotten all the way to the edge in my previous attempts. Super excited and still impressed ...
I love my Byrds, they are real work horses. But kinda like industrial diamonds versus the kind you put in jewelry. I'm still holding out hope for a PE Hawkbill.
Welcome back. Though I'm not as avid a SE fan as you, I can see how this would be a superb platform for SE. That said, just got word that my 3rd PE XL is on the way. Will be a great pack knife.
Never had a CL do this (yet). But this is why I always change the clip to a tip up so that the blade is against the seam of my pocket. It may pop open but the edge is facing away from my hand if it does. This is also the reason I tend to prefer back locks. My CO Flag PM2 has the weakest detent of an...
