Re: K390 Police 4 LW SE

My PE K390 blade sharpening process is pretty smooth - on apex-like system with diamond stones, but I doubt it will be easy on alumina ceramic rods.

Re: K390 Police 4 LW SE

Does it really have rounded serrations, compared to standard grind? If so, that's a must-buy. Or can we allow that's not the real photo but "estimated graphic drawing imperfection" ? That will make huge difference for me, considering how much effort will it take to round it by hand, due the K390 har...

I think I'll go for the SPY27 because I already have a 20cv blade in my collection.
Vice versa, and just have ordered that Manix,
and moreover... the s30v Endura. Couldnt stand that FOMO and spent all the budget :p

Re: Why did you join?

At first, years ago, when I saw Spydies - I was like "what a weird overpriced knives". But as I became more addicted to a knife hobby, I began to understand its ergonomics and essense. Then I found this forum and was very impressed by Spyderco attitude - not only they communicate with customers but ...

Re: Native 5 salt lockbar tightness

To my mind it's definitely a conscious choice, doubt there was any problem for Spyderco to use that "old" spring.
For another example, I would not swim, workout or climb on trees with PM2 or Para 3 LW or (even more so) some assisted knife IWB, but I do it without any worries carrying Native Salt :)

Re: Native 5 salt lockbar tightness

Check this topic out: https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83339 IIRC, Salt has some difference over standard Native 5: - much stiffer spring - slightly different (improved?) pivot - uses only T8 screws, coated for corrosion resistance Stiffer = more detent force = safer for carrying, for ...

Re: Is this normal for MAXAMET?

Have similar pits on my Cruwear Mule. I believe that was factory condition. Have seen here some old topics describing pits on a 'new' mules. Not literally 'new', as there was recall due to heat treatment problems, and maybe pits came out after re-heatment.

is the darker end from the black dye or did you just leave that portion in the dye longer?
yes, it is from the black dye - I guess because I've losed proper heat level.
Also I had tried to dip my blue dragonfly there, and it only became a little bit darker and slightly glossy.

Re: Police 4 or Police 4?

My Police 4 FRN (VG10 version) had factory edge of 30 degrees, with 40 microbevel. honestly, my favourite knife (despite being too large for summer carry,). Its ergonomics fit my hand perfectly. that index finger groove is much more precise and comfortable than on Delica/Endura

Do want.
If it ever comes in FRN, I'll get it ASAP.
(after PM2 FRN, of course :D )

Well, there's a topic where Taiyo brand was mentioned by Sal, https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=24106&hilit=taiyo. only fixed blades, though. Also, i've found an old auction lot (https://www.auctionzip.com/auction-lot/twelve-collectible-folding-knives-crkt-cobra-gol_51F4636B12/) with an...

Re: Spyderco "First Cousin" brand names

My apologies for necroposting! Need help identifying the knife. I've bought it on a local online knife marketplace for a fair price. It is rather small, "delica-sized" (compared to D-fly on a foto). High quality fit and finish, tight action without any play. Very enjoyable. I suppose it's Seki made,...

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..

Greetings! I've been reading the forum for quite long time, and now there's a reason to register :) want to share my experience with FRN dyeing of Native Salt SE. My plan was to set up hi-vis orange color, and then get about an inch of full black color around the pocket clip, with some fading. I've ...
