Re: Please recommend 3x Endura 4s for my use

Endura is definitely in the running for my favorite knife of all time. I’ve got way more than 3. If you aren’t going to count the Pacific Salt (I actually consider it an Endura variant myself) then of my 3 I’d say: ZDP-189 Serrated Wharncliffe in VG-10 My first Endura, which is the “dessert tan” Zom...

Re: Seki City models disappointing

I’ve got more from Seki than any other Spyderco facility. I’ve noticed a tiny thing here or there, but nothing that ever made me consider returning the knife. When you factor in the price differences between the Golden and Seki models, I’d say the Seki knives become a great value.

Re: Putting utility aside, what's the best looking Spyderco ever made ?

When I think Spyderco there’s a shape that comes to mind. A contour of the knife, with the blade humped up to accommodate the hole. I know some don’t like the humpback look or ergos, but I do. Probably the knife that to me sums that look up the most is the Endura. I know, it’s a plain jane knife, bu...

Re: First time buyer.. what model?

Probably one of the new Salt 2 models in LC200N. Super lightweight knife, super useful steel, rust proof, almost everything you really need in a good EDC folder.

Equally excellent option would be a PM2, largely because it’s just awesome, really awesome at being a great all around folder

Re: Has the Paramilitary 2 ship sailed?

I love the PM2, but I won’t blow my kids college fund chasing every exclusive. I can think of a combo of steel/scale color that may motivate me to buy, but it’s not currently offered. Now a FRN PM2 LW (basically a bigger version of the Para 3 LW) I would buy. Especially if they did it in BD1N. Yes, ...

Re: Which knife later grew on you?

Has to be the Endura for me. When I first got the first one it seemed like this gigantic knife that I had little control of the tip on and no good way to choke up on it to gain some more control. Then I got to using it more. And more. And more. 18 months later the Endura feels like an extension of m...

Re: Sal - YOU are not listening to us

The second most overstated thing by most men is how long it takes to open a pocket knife that is not in their preferred configuration ... When you're being assaulted every millisecond counts. I think in one of Michael Janich's DVDs he covers tip-up carry, and having studied a little of Escrima and ...

Re: Sal - YOU are not listening to us

In my time on this earth, IRL I've never seen any knife owner swap a knife clip, let alone own a T6 bit... I'm in the land of Case knives or gas station specials tho. Quoted for truth..... I have a friend, super nice guy. He’s a mechanical engineer and also serves as a volunteer firefighter. He got...

Re: Sal - YOU are not listening to us

Lots of defensive posts. No one has yet to say they prefer tip down. Odd. I guess people have different ways of showing their support for a company? Everyone in my family got a spyderco last Christmas. Women got delicas, men PM2's. But hey I guess some of you upping your post count on a forum over ...

Seems this whole thing could have been limited to a Rescue model and a Police model.
I agree. I actually bought a Thin Red Line Rescue for a friend as a wedding present. He’s a Firefighter, so I thought it made perfect sense.

Re: I want a new knife, but something different

So I live about an hour from GP knives, decided to go visit. Ended up with an Amalgam, Yojimbo 2 DLC, and a Tenacious LW tan scales with DLC blade. Wife got a Centofante and a Tenacious LW S35VN. Others I handled: Sliverax (didn’t like the ergos at all) Ikuchi (too skinny) Kapara (liked a lot, ultim...

What's your price range?
Let’s say south of $200, although I wouldn’t shy away from $210 if I liked it enough. I don’t wanna drop 300 though. So we’ll say $200 is a “soft ceiling”

Re: I want a new knife, but something different

This is one of those threads that scares people away. There's like 30 suggestions in here already! i'm not sure why a thread like this would scare anyone away. there are some good suggestions in here. unfortunately for the op, asking for something different in a spyderco forum is going to get you a...

I want a new knife, but something different

So, I want to buy myself a new Spyderco. Sounds fun, right? There’s a catch though - almost all the usual suspects are off the table. I want something different. Something maybe even odd. I’ll start with the stuff I’ve got: PM2, Manix2, Para 3, Para 3 LW, Native 5 LW, Delica 4 (several), Endura 4 (s...

Re: Can we talk about Amazon?

Just my opinion: I don’t hate Amazon and I do order things from them. However, I don’t buy cutlery related stuff nor do I buy my shooting/hunting gear from them. There are too many other smallish vendors out there that have good e-commerce sites and good CS for me to deny them business. I don’t hate...

Re: Manix 2

I have both, I love both. I guess I have more Manix models than PM2s, but that’s partly because I had to try all 3 flavors of Manix (standard, LW, and XL). Between the Manix 2s I own and the Paramilitary 2s I own I’d say if I had to pick one as a favorite it would be the Manix 2 XL but that may be s...

Re: KnifeJoy Exclusive PM2 - Green G10/DLC 20CV Steel

Well, my wife got me and her each one of the Para 3 versions. I like it a lot, but I’m probably gonna pass on this one. I’d really like my next PM2 to be the Cru-Carta one I think.

Re: Who's in for a Cruwear Endura?

OD scales, coated blade (DLT style) and I will absolutely buy one.

Honestly, I’d like to try CruWear anyway, but the DLT color combo just reminds me of my 4Runner so much I’d have to have it. (Yes, I realize that is a silly reason to buy a knife, but I just can’t get the idea out of my head).

Worker
Police
Delica
Paramilitary 2

I’m making my selections based on what I think are the “icons” of Spyderco history as opposed to my personal favorites.

My personal Mt Rushmore of Spyderco would probably be:

Endura
Manix 2
Paramilitary 2
Delica
