Re: H1 vs LC200N

LC200N for me. My samples are in PE, and in my experience there is a significant difference in edge retention, LC200N is ok, H1 is disappointing. Neither have rusted on me, but my usage is mostly fresh water. H1 gets pumped a lot on this board, maybe mine is a lemon, or maybe it's because I'm missin...

Re: MT35P - CPM MagnaCut Mule Team - Release Date

Oh man, one of the ones I really want, but release is right in the middle of a work meeting. Can you excuse yourself due to “digestive distress”? :winking-tongue I reckon I'll have to, my wife said she'll try to order one for me, but I'm not sure she understands the kind of scramble this will proba...

Re: Knife Joy 20CV Delica drops today

I haven't purchased a PE Delica in many years but I noticed this one is still available. Giving it some thought tonight, I'd like to try a premium steel in the Delica platform. It's a winner, 20CV in a nice thin stock, a bit reminiscent of my TRM Neutron 2. Took a wicked edge, carries and slices we...

Re: Overall disappointed

I ride a bike with a spyderco clipped to my pocket every day and have never had a problem with one of mine working it's way out of the pocket. That's a really unusual and frustrating issue to have. That being said, I do think a lot of people on this forum have a weird obsession with over-hyping the...

Re: Oil stain in Micarta on PM2

99% iso worked to get ink off, as well as unintentionally took the oil off of my Micarta Neutron scales. I'd just rub oil over the rest of it.

Re: Bladehq Sage 5 in M4 and mint green scales

I really like the idea of Sage sprints and will certainly get one. The price and steel on this particular one has me out, M4 is intriguing, but I'd want dlc for some corrosion resistance. I hope this does well enough to encourage follow-ups, I'll be in on the next one in an interesting stainless.

Re: Carbon fiber nylon printed scales?

The various CF filaments are very interesting, I would like to try the Prusa carbon fiber PC filament in particular. The thing that's kept me from trying is it the fact that they wear out brass nozzles quickly, so you have to use a different material, like hardened steel, that has different heat tra...

Re: Overall disappointed

Sock Drawer Commando checking in! To be fair though, every day I take a knife out of the sock drawer and carry it around until the next day... when it gets swapped. Also, I only have an Instagram for looking at new product announcements from gun and silencer manufacturers and I'm afraid I don't post...

Re: BD1N toughness

Dr. Larrin's tests are meant to see the real potential and qualities of each steel imho. All results are true and scientificly obtained. We just have to remember that once this steel is used in a knife, there's a ton of new factors that enter into action and that changes a lot (not everything, but ...

Re: BD1N toughness

Dr. Larrin's recent artcile shows BD1N with a toughness of 3.5 and same for edge retention. So, same toughness as 440C with less edge retention. BD1N has slightly more corrossion resistance though. https://knifesteelnerds.com/2021/10/19/knife-steels-rated-by-a-metallurgist-toughness-edge-retention-...

Re: Para 3 LW Coffin

I'd agree that I like my G10 P3 much better than my P3 LWs, although I think they all suffer from ridiculously thick blade stock for that sized knife. To me the P3 LW would have been much more interesting if it had been designed with the same blade stock thickness as the Delica. I do understand thou...

Re: CTS BD1N Contoured PM2

Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve eaten crow. I still think they look contoured but I will take Kristi’s word for it. Kind of a bummer, I was excited for this one. It's almost like they trolled all the folks that want contoured scales. Bring out a picture of what looks for all the world like a contou...

Re: TNP Nutnfancy Spyderco Delica 4

I think S35VN is a fine steel for a delica but I don't want anything branded by that dude (or really branded by anything but spyderco) Concur, I don't hate him, but he's just kind of a tool, too annoying for me to make it through an episode. I wouldn't want his logo on anything i carry on my person...

Re: CTS BD1N Contoured PM2

Combining a scale upgrade with a steel downgrade in this special edition is a bit of a head scratcher for me. I know BD1N's technically a downgrade compared to a lot of other steels Spyderco uses but I don't really look it that way. I actually really like it. I even like the lesser version BD1. The...
