Re: MT46P/MT46S - Mule Team™ MagnaMax™ Release Info!

Maybe I just haven't gotten a mule lately, but that was surprisingly pain and glitch free compared to the releases a few years ago!

That's Exquisite! You have a talent.

Oh, Sal.
I seem to have gone and embarrassed myself... again. While it's true that I sometimes use my vocabulary to turn my thoughts into awkward prose, or my lathe to turn my ideas into functioning machines, that poem isn't entirely my own creation ...

Re: Reveal 16 15V alert thread time?

The Para 3 LW might not be as popular as past 15V offerings as well. In my case, I'm still on the lookout for 15V, but really don't care for that model, so I'm holding out.

Re: CPM S90V. My favorite steel.

I wasn't aware of the Sprig, or at least didn't remember it until seeing your picture, I really like that design especially in a steel like S90V, bummed I missed it when did those come out?

The OP and I posted pictures of the South Fork (2013-2017), with the trailing point. The Sprig was the ...

Re: CPM S90V. My favorite steel.

S90V is one of my favorites, of not my favorite steel as well. I use my DLT ODG Para 2 in S90V quite a bit and upon hearing about crucibles troubles, ordered another folder from a different brand, and re-upped an order for a custom fixed blade in S90V for this year.

I wasn't aware of the Sprig, or ...

Re: Are there plans for a Military 2 Salt?

That will be pretty rad, hopefully with an uncoated blade option and less than $250 MAP. I'm still holding out for the uncoated yellow scale PM2 salt to come out.

Re: What do you see differently about Spyderco than other companies.

Pretty practical designs, fairly derivative and incremental, not as flashy, creative or interesting as some other shops but they work well.

The main aspect where Spyderco really stands out to me is their experimentation and use of different steels. That's really what drew me to them a couple ...

Re: CPM Prototype Steel

Certainly interested to hear more about the steel, should be interesting coming from Dr. Thomas.

In the mean time, congrats on the bull, I didn't draw a tag this year, but hopefully next year. That knife looks like it's a really excellent design for general purpose hunting.

Re: Spyderco Native Chief Lightweight Observations

On price - I was shocked when I saw $192 street price for the Chief Salts. This time next year they'll be over $200.

Value is subjective, but my LW Chief didn't feel like a $200 knife to me.

........

I expected something closer to $150 for the Chief Salt.

I'm with you there, it's hard for ...

Re: Bow River for Skinning, or...

Should work fine for whitetail they aren't too big, on elk I've general taken my two main hunting knives (a custom in O1 and an old Benchmade fixed in D2) and wind up using them both, but elk are much larger.

Waterway might be my choice, and mules make good hunting knives too, I boned out my last ...

Re: A YEAR ?????????

Learned this lesson on the Magnacut N5 Salt. Waited forever for it to be released, then when it did start hitting shelves KC seemed to be the last to get it. Cancelled my order and bought somewhere that had them in hand, and that's the plan for everything going forward.

If the pair of these I ordered work out like I hope they do, there will be more P3 LWs in my future, definitely including a MagnaCut.

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!

I'm tempted to get one of these because they are so unique, but I've had a few HIC kitchen knives for a while now and it bothers me that there isn't a great way to sharpen them. I've been able to do some coarse reshaping with diamond plates when I chipped a section of edge near the tip off, but the ...

Re: New Discoveries found in 8Cr13MoV testing

That was a good article, seemed pretty much in line with what's been said on 8CR before, but of course with the science to back it up. The most interesting part to me was that the Byrd manufacturer initially tried to pass their 8CR off as 440C to Spyderco until Spyderco tested the composition. I ...
