Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
“ I grab the Dragonfly when I need an ultralight folding scalpel” That’s the freaking truth. A Dragonfly in K390 is surreal in capabilities never mind the size. The ergonomics are well thought out. My little finger wraps the small flat pulling the handle into my palm, fitting perfectly. In the rever...

Re: Question about lanyard holes.........
I don’t use them because lanyards take on moisture, food debris and what have you with a serious user making it harder to clean but I’m glad they include the lanyard hole. If one does want to remove the clip for any reason it is a good attachment point to keep the knife secure in various situations....

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?
The Delica suggestions are spot on. It is the quentissial medium pocket knife. Consider the steel and grab K390 if you can find it if you aren’t worried about a bit of patina and know how to take care of it. It’s a tough little knife but if you desire a bit tougher the Native will do it with just a ...

Re: Spyderco spotted on Survivor!
Nope, in a podcast he confirmed that he found the shirts in some shop early in the show and bought a bunch and still wears them. Perhaps he does have a couple others. So what. They don’t script the show and do one take and one take only. That’s always been their mindset from day one. I’ll take his w...

Re: Spyderco spotted on Survivor!
It's unlikely that the prettyboy host with is perfect wardrobe, perfect lighting, and perfect camera angles would walk onto the set with his pockets bulging with personal belongings. I suspect the knife came from the prop master, or a gaffer who was sitting around sipping coffee. That’s one of the ...

I don´t have a TV and so I never heard if this show - but cool, that the way it looks this Salt appearantly is a real user . Well this show has been on for more than two and a half decades so that’s a long time with no TV but hats off for finding something else that’s probably more productive. We h...

Re: New(ish) Delica is covered in surface rust
I used to live 10 miles (16 kilometers) inland during my senior year in Hollywood Florida. The salt sea air definitely invaded that far rusting everything including my new bicycle and its cables very quickly. Storms can easily take the salty sea air much further inland. I live in the desert now and ...

Re: Vote: Kick? Choil? Forward? Other?
The choil allows the folded knife to be much smaller and comp act and the open knife to be more secure and ergonomic in hand. This is pretty much a no brainer for me. True only for very small knives like Chaparral or Dfly, right? Those would no longer offer a four finger grip without a choil. On kn...

Re: Corrosion and Edge Retention
Dive knives are highly polished to help guard against corrosion. This works with the edge as well. Also using mineral oil lightly embedded in a cloth and then wiping it with a clean, dry paper towel will protect without being sticky. For any edged tool of mine I do that no matter the steel. For the ...

Re: MagnaCut Fine Edge Retention
I’d like to know how MagnaCut stands up against K390 in practical application. The Dragonfly is such an amazing knife that is almost invisible for both hiking and the urban marketplace. I’d get another if another high end steel is offered. I’m not sure how much happier I’d be with something other th...

Re: I don't care about stainless *Edited
I have grown up with carbon steel and really nothing else has ever felt right. Please leave the chromium out of the equation. My very first knife was a carbon steel folding camp knife I souvenired from a vase on the kitchen table hidden in a maze of pencils and what not when I was four years old. My...

Re: What does “ergonomic” mean to you?
Ergonomics is the simple test I use to understand how useful a knife will be for me. I use several grips and none of them are the usual way people display a knife in their hand. After staying warm and hydrated, fueling our bodies is the most important activity we do. The knife is still the most popu...

Unfortunately they are not stable. They are beautiful though. Mine warped and swelled immediately after rinsing it off the first time . I didn’t submerge for any length of time or soak it. My wonderful and very lightweight FRN model is fantastic and the intriguing Sun & Moon is fascinating as we...

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?
No, we are able to carry any sized pocket knife in our pockets in Arizona and no local ordinance can be more restrictive by law. In 1987 that first Spyderco appeared and I carried that while traveling as an aerial mapping photographer for years, like the smaller pocket knives. It is the Spyderco CoP...

Bolster and Ladybug you both have some good perspectives. We aren’t all the exact same and have the right to choose our own tools. As we say on the trails, HYOH. (Hike your own hike). Some of my friends carry fixed blades. I do carry the Essentials as in rain gear, down insulation, water, navigation...

In 1987 I saw my first Spyderco models in Sharp Stuff a very unique shop that doesn’t even exist anymore. The CoPilot was chosen to accompany me on countless aerial survey missions. Always liked small, capable blades. Then I bumped into the Dragonfly in the incomparable K390. The sizes are similar w...

Re: dragonfly lc200n wharncliffe?
I think the Dragonfly in general is the finest pocketknife on earth and is my blade of choice. Got a beauty in K390. That stuff is surreal and seems to almost never need sharpening. Never had a steel like it. I would like to see a Dragonfly model in MagnaCut. I’d jump on that in an instant, one for ...
