Re: SALT Shaman, Thoughts?
Textured FRN scales, weight reduction, ti, ceramic, and coated hardware, magnacut, vanax, or lc200n blade? In. I have always culled my knife collection as I went along. Even so, I recently sold nearly all of my knives. I dont intend to collect users going forward as I had been. I have a 15v shaman w...

Re: 15V Shaman!
I like the looks of those scales a lot. The flytanium ti scales nearly perfectly match the factory G10 contouring but they're very slick. I've contemplated sending them in for some laser texturing for a while now. I didnt love the metonboss ti due to the reduced contouring, and I'm trying to test th...

Re: Magnacut Shaman?
As I've said a number of times - IN. A magnacut shaman would be at the top of my wants list, and that list is becoming rather short nowadays.

Re: 15V Shaman!
Screw the flippers. I hope they learn a lesson.
I'm happy that people who want the knife for themselves can get it.
And I'm happy Spyderco sold a lot of knives in a cool steel partnered with shawn. I hope I see that part happen more!

Re: 15V Shaman!
Working professionals, how will you use this knife/steel combo compared to other Shamans? Same as I carry all my others. Most interesting part to me is seeing how they hold up to copper. Unfortunately I migrate to more stainless steels in the heat of summer when I sweat a lot at work so this might ...

https://i.postimg.cc/YSfKXjkM/20230410-181103.jpg Recently acquired one. Sorry Spyderco, this guy is going to kick the 15v shaman out of my pocket for a while. At least until I get some quality time with it to appreciate the finer details. So far I'm enjoying it a lot. It's rock solid all the way a...

Re: After Market Titanium Ti Scales for Shaman that maintain contours?
That's exactly what I'd like to do, I want some kind of stippling type pattern engraved into them. Long term project though, gotta find someone capable of doing it first. Wayofknife/edcgearhouse does some beautiful deep laser etch work, but their books are backed up a few months I believe. Might be...

Re: After Market Titanium Ti Scales for Shaman that maintain contours?
Yes I have quite a few aftermarket shaman scales and the flytanium match the factory scales contouring very closely. Metonboss does not. More flat. I like the Cerberus ultem but they are not contoured just beveled, my only real gripe with them. The flyti are slick though. Even though they're my favo...

Re: 15V Shaman!
Personally love the factory shaman scales. The ergos of the knife are good enough that if you have a hold on it, you're not going to drop it. Yes I do use mine in wet and even sometimes oily conditions, and with gloves on sometimes. Can't think of any time off the top of my head I've lost my grip an...

Re: MT37P - AEB-L Mule Team Dropping Soon
For you folks who are planning to test this one thoroughly - the benefit of a high toughness, moderate hardness, fine microstructure steel is that with that edge strength/stability comes the ability for the edge to remain stable at lower angles and thinner geometries. Low angles and thin geometries ...

Re: What exclusive would you like to see?
As a shaman fanboy and steel nerd, I'd love a shaman in the bentobox k390, the REC 10V, and a magnacut sprint or salt shaman, and I think id also take lc200n if it was offered.

Re: Over sharpening?
I would prefer my knives always be able to split hairs, but realistically I settle for being able to push cut newsprint. I'm also an electrician and my edges used to get beat up and resharpened weekly or even more often, but I have since been able to learn better use habits, better steel choices, an...

Re: "hard use"
Don't know if you've tried but turns out it's pretty dang difficult to take pictures safely while you're actually using a knife, yet alone "hard use". But in the interest of those here complaining of no actual photos presenting evidence of use, I dug through my photos and found a couple of...

Notes on takedown: Body screws and clip screws aggressively tight. One clip screw was loaded with threadlocker, other two had none. Evidence of hardened blue threadlocker in backspacer screw holes but not on screws. Pivot screws not that tight and no evidence of thread locker. Liner appears to be st...

Received from G&R tactical. Shipping was quick via USPS and no issues there. I paid shipping but not tax. https://i.postimg.cc/9QgTZxh4/20230327-112503.jpg The stonewash is beautiful. The action is stiff, a bit off centered. Fully expect it to improve to perfect or near it with some breaking in ...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
K390 is a great steel just tougher than 15V, it would roll rather than chip. Have you experienced this first hand? Hardness is resistance to plastic deformation, including rolling. K390 is at 67 HRC which is incredibly hard. I have never had a steel that hard roll on me when stripping wire. In fact...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
As an industrial electrician that strips every kind of wire with my spydercos in sprint steels, this is interesting to me but doesn't mean a lot since it's the factory edges. I almost always get light chipping on my factory edges. In particular I remember my rex45 getting several large ones on the f...

Re: "sharpener's steels"
What makes a steel deburr better than others? I've recently started the Larrin's Knife Engineering book, so perhaps I'll discover the answer soon-ish. I'm guessing hardness plays a part in deburring. Not all steels are (or can be) heat treated like K390. Is there some threshold (like 60 HRC) where ...

Re: "hard use"
Imo, "hard use" is any task that falls between on the light end basic light slicing that would be impossible to damage a knife with, and on the heavy end any task that could likely cause damage, which I would classify as abuse. For me, as an industrial electrician, my day to day tasks at w...
