Re: The Shark Hunter

Things were said, jimmies were rustled, I apologize for my part in the shenanigans. Let's get back to the knife. I suppose I should've considered it to be more of a spearfishing knife from the start. I think holes in the handle would be perfect for lashing to a shaft. As you said, a beefier tip is d...

The OP's knife idea reminds me of this:

ra-m16dive.jpg

Randall Model 16 Diver.

https://agrussell.com/knife/Randall-Mod ... RA-M16DIVE

I think it would be cool for Spyderco to do a version of this.
That sure is a beauty!

Re: The Shark Hunter

Fish Hunter XL. Spear Hunter. Giant Pointy Pokey Stabby Stick. Names are easy to come up with. Im down if Spyderco wants to make a salt series hand spear. I would get one, especially if the price was still close to the fish hunter. Seems like it would be a salt version of the sustain, but with some...

Re: The Shark Hunter

Folks, I think it´s about time to move away from that name-thing and name-calling :) Again, let´s discuss the knife itself, if it ever becomes a real thing we can still argue about the name ;) / IF I´d get that thing (so a large, long, but NOT heavy and not meant for chopping knife) I´d really want...

I like it! Only need 4ish inches of PE so that would be fantastic.

Re: The Shark Hunter

Next we need to do a club version of the Hatchet Hawk and call it the “Baby Seal Hawk”! I thought the name Shark Hunter is great, in that it simply signifies a larger Fish Hunter. Isn’t a Self Defense knife simply a land version of a so called Shark Hunter. Some carry one just in case there is a ro...

And to be clear- I previously mentioned how I feel about sharks. But the continuation of the whining is unnecessary. Move past the name.

Re: The Shark Hunter

Didn't realize I joined the bleeding hearts forum. Shark Hunter is a fine name, and you're immature or naive if you think it would cause any harm. Thanks for the encouragment from those who are smart enough to realize what the name was really about. Literally just a big Fish Hunter. Guess what? Cert...

Re: The Shark Hunter

i bet you didn't expect this thread to turn into a peta meeting. 🤣 Yeah, really funny... Shark hunter is a bad name, we've agreed on that. I’m not affiliated with them. I don’t think people caring about the well being of ocean ecosystems in a respectful way should be laughed at. Spyderco itself has...

This sounds more like a fighter than a dive knife. Sure would be nasty.
Actually, it's both! It's for fighting off sharks while diving 😅

Paired with a nice, small chisel-tip dive knife and you're ready to take on the high seas 😁

Re: The Shark Hunter

You guys all have great ideas and input- I think this would make for an AWESOME knife. I think 8~" would be a good, usable size. Beef up the tip a bit while maintaining that mean profile, maybe upgrade the steel, and we have a winner.

Re: The Shark Hunter

Would anyone else be interested in a 8-10" blade version of the Fish Hunter? They could call it the Shark Hunter. I think it would make an awesome ocean knife. Maybe include a slightly longer straight edge portion (2~") to make filleting and skinning easier. How about 6.5 to 8.5 inches? I...

Re: The Shark Hunter

I supposed it wouldn't be the most useful "dive knife" in the traditional sense- maybe more for "shark defense" in the same way large bowies are used for "bear defense"- just makes you FEEL a little safer LOL. I could see plenty of instances it would come in handy, thou...

Re: The Shark Hunter

The whole point is that it's a big knife. It isn't for those who can't put a big knife to use.
