Re: Sprig Re-run

S90 is a long way from LC or Magnacut in edge retention. Also, the current Phil Wilson design (Bow River) is being made in China, and frankly is selling well due to the cost factor. Are you thinking to make it with the original maker in Taichung? or in China? If we made it in China, the exotic stee...

Re: Seconds sale 2022

I would love to see how things are laid out inside of the store. Can someone take a picture of the seconds on display?

Looking for a proxy this year. Looking for two paramilitary 2s and one Watu. If you might be able to do this, please message me. I'll pay partial upfront, cover shipping, and give you some money for your time.

Re: Caly Series. What's Next?

Hi Sal, I would love to see the calys utilizing Spy27. More spydies need to be in this steel imo. One thing I think would be very important would be a sub 3 inch knife. Maybe bring back the Calypso junior. Many areas have knife laws that restrict the blade limit to under three inches, including some...

Re: How many knives do you normally carry on you?

One or two usually.

Lately it has been 3-5, but that's mainly because I'm going through all of my knives and sharpening/cleaning them while deciding which to get rid of. Trying to slim the collection, but having difficulty letting anything go!

Hopefully this works! Will be posting this with higher resolution on the other website soon. If for some reason the “SALT” font on the salt bowl is a restriction for posting let me know, I have a different dragonfly picture without it that I can post. Wanted to have a spring/summer appeal with this...

Re: The next "pocket clip" level breakthrough?

This is not on the level of a pocket clip in terms of being a breakthrough, but the closest thing that I can think of is internal milling/reliefs of scales. This occurs now, but I see it as becoming more of a norm in the coming future. With metals, especially titanium, it can reduce a lot of weight ...

Re: Proxy for sharpness

It depends on the edge that I want and knife that I'm sharpening. Kitchen knives= cleanly slicing computer paper.
Pocket knives=shaving sharp.
Junk blades/freebies for friends and family=feeling for bite with my thumb.

These are just generalizations but largely that's what I do

Re: What steel(s) would you choose? kitchen/general use

Yikes, thats a horrific knife sharpener. Geometry on those knives looks horrendous but looking at the price it is what it is. When It comes to vg10 it depends on the maker/manufacturer. Tojiro does a good job as does Spyderco. There are some companies they could do a little more R&D on their he...

Re: What steel(s) would you choose? kitchen/general use

My opinion here would be: whatever he's been using. It's not the most exciting answer, but I've found that it's usually the case with people who use knives like that. I would certainly avoid VG-10, it's not very abuse resistant in my experience. A good middle ground would be a decent set that is sim...

Keep trying everyone. The website seems to be moving at a decent pace right now and they are still in stock.
Grab them before the scalpers get them.

Get one and take out the backspacer! Mine weighs in at 105g (maybe 3.65oz)…not a lightweight BUT the balance shifts forward making it FEEL lighter and more nimble. In fact, I just went and swapped out my N5 LW for my efficient! Thanks. I plan to get one regardless, buy I would not have thought to t...

Re: chaparral cqi?

I personally love XHP and have had no rust issues. Then again, I've never had D2 rust either so maybe I'm in a particularly dry area. Some notes on the Chaparral. There have been a couple of revisions that in aware of. There may be more than this but from what I know: The early Chaparral was in S30V...

Re: Favorite small spyderco

My #1 would be the Dragonfly. Followed by: Chaparral, Native 5, and Roadie. Dragonfly: Easily the best little big knife I have encountered thus far. It's incredibly light, has an ideal steel in VG-10 (decent edge retention, good corrosion resistance, ergo low maintenance steel), the blade shape is i...

I might not have much forum presence, but I've been a lurker for about 15 years. Spyderco's openness and integrity is what keeps me coming back and why 80%+ of my knives are Spydercos. Good on ya Sal. Hopefully Vasilli gets the message.

Re: MT35P - CPM MagnaCut Mule Team - Release Date

Intriguing! A question for anyone who has been ordering the last recent mules: has the website been working alright during ordering or is it crashing/not loading? That was happening last year during the online 2nds sale. It was so unbearably bad. It really turned me off to the idea of bothering wit...
