Serrations for cutting hard plastic?
I'm giving thought to picking up a Salt knife to keep near the bathroom. I'd be using it for opening packaging, but particularly for cutting the hard plastic pump bottles where it is so challenging to get the last bit of product! I'm leaning toward a Dragonfly or Delica size, but am wondering if ser...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
My Delica wharncliffe made short work of a number of boxes for the recycling bin. The Delica continues to impress me with how good a cutter it is. Thanks to Spyderco for this tool!

Re: Constructive criticism for Spydercos large FRN folders
I noticed the same thing on an Endura in tip-up configuration; it's one reason I moved that knife along. I do like the Seki FRN otherwise.

Re: EDC show and tell. What do you pair with your spyderco knives?
This is a great idea for a topic. I don't have pictures handy, but along with one of my Spydercos, I usually carry: • Victorinox Rambler or Manager (sometimes I want the pen, other times the toothpick). • Sharpie marker. • Prometheus Preon P2 MKIII (I prefer the rechargeable AAAs). • Casio G-Shock. ...

Re: Pick One Favorite.
I used to think it was the Manix, but now I would say the Sage 5. Of all my Spydies, it's the most "transparent," by which I mean the way it carries, deploys, and closes. It's my "don't have to think about it, just use it" knife. Runners-up are the Watu and Kapara.

Re: UKPK drop point vs leaf
I'd prefer the drop point for the straight part of the blade; also, I have a good number of leaf-shaped blades already.

Re: Fixing Lock Rock in Seki FRN lockbacks
The lock rock on the Delica is why I stopped carrying it. I do a fair bit of cutting down on a surface, and that slight movement/tick bothered me, though it never felt like a safety concern. Interestingly, I happily carry the Delica wharncliffe but that's because I don't use it in a way that provoke...

Jazz, thanks to you and Spyderco for bringing this to fruition. The Delica wharncliffe is one of my favorite knives.

In Which I Rescue my Knife
I had a shaving cream bottle with that last bit at the bottom that just won't come out. Confidently, I thought that my Delica wharncliffe would make short work of this hard-plastic bottle. I positioned everything carefully, and got to work. I got a piercing cut in and started to slice around the bot...

Re: My non 90 degree sharpening
What I find helpful is to set up a small mirror on the table behind the Sharpmaker. I can watch the mirror to check the blade angle.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2023 Report
Thank you Wouter for sharing the pictures and info! This is a great thread. That Nishjin Stretch XL looks really intriguing... I'm curious about the handle on the Military 2. Reviews I've seen on the current Military indicate the handle is more chamfered than that of the PM2, but in the pictures of ...

Re: Why aren't PM2 Scales Chamfered like the Para 3?
This discussion has been interesting. I can't say I'm a fan of the blocky scales on the PM2, but I found a counter-example in a traditional slip-joint knife. That one had a very rounded handle, something of a wide oval in cross-section. The blade was a near-symmetrical spear point. There were a few ...

Re: Respectful feedback and ideas regarding 15V sprint runs
Fear Of Missing Out is real and the everyone in the chain from manufacturers to the retailers exploit it. This is by design. It will not be fixed as it is working as it was designed to work. My advice is to resist FOMO and skip all the Sprints, Flash Batches, Special Runs, Limited Editions you can....

Re: Why is the Kapara so overlooked ?
On paper, the Kapara seemed perfect for me. I loved the look, wire clip, choil design, and the blade shape. However, as others have said, I find the CF a bit slick, and the compression lock seems like a less than optimal choice here given the handle height. As it is, I end up closing the Kapara like...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?
Overall, I like my Spydies, but dislike the square-ish handles on some models (that's largely why I moved my PM2 along). On some, I also find the jimping and inside edges of the handle uncomfortable (I'm thinking of the Manix lightweight).

Re: Sage 5 LW vs Manix 2
It's an interesting question. For a while, I had favored the Manix, but recently bought a Sage 5 LW, and have come to prefer it. One reason is carry; the Sage is a bit smaller and more comfortable in the pocket. When just gripping the knife, or in light use, I find the Manix handle more comfortable,...

Re: Rockjumper steel options for this year
I could be interested in a K390 or Magnacut version. In VG-10, I don't feel there's a compelling reason to buy since I have a Delica wharncliffe. Still, the Delica handle is a bit short for me (spine to belly), so a Rockjumper in a different steel would be worth a look. I would really prefer a silve...

Re: which is your ergonomic masterpiece?
I think for me it's the Manix. To be fair, I haven't cut anything tougher with it than some thick cardboard, but the handle was comfortable.
