Neat little knife, I really like it.
Always have pe or se handy, easy to carry. Reasonably priced ( I think)This is a win.

Re: When Is Carbon Steel The Right Choice
Tool steels or carbon steels aren’t inferior. Is 15v inferior to s110v ?
They’re not obsolete, only time I need stainless is with a lot of water… even then carbon can hold its own with a patina and wipe off.

I really enjoy Hap40 and m4. They hold a sharp edge.
Cruwear works great, kinda seems stainless as I haven’t seen any patina form on it.

Re: Shaman Salt
Am I the only one who loves the salts …. But they need to offer salts in Se . I think of a knife with water I think of Se.
If it was up to me they should offer each and every Spydie in SE, but yes, Salts even more so! (I was quite disappointed that the Manix 2 LW Salt did not get a version ...

I like everything about this idea… other than where it’s made. G10 scales well over 4 inch blade of m4.
I would bend.

Re: China
I do have some China knives.
I don’t think the quality is up there with Spyderco knives I have.
which Spyderco is almost all I carry.
However I have noticed there are a lot of Chinese products.
Hobby lobby is all China, they are doing quite well.
I don’t like it, I also attempt to avoid China ...

Re: A question about my micarta / cruwear Native Chief
I haven’t noticed this yet in any spyder backlocks :/
most likely you aren't looking closely enough.
there's a simple lock rock test all my spydie lockbacks fail.
open the knife. grip it so your palm is not touching the lockbar. press the cutting edge, near the tip, down on a cutting board ...

Re: China
I really like the look of the Goonie, love that blade shape and g10.
There are two reasons I have not purchased it.
1. the steel choice, the same as any China made 8$ knife at a hardware store.
2. Made in China is polarizing, I try best I can to avoid these products.

Re: Favorite fidgety locking system?
The Millie liner lock is a lot of fun, I’ve grown quite fond of playing around with this one.
Honorable mention to backlocks, which just follows flow.
Manix lock is fun for obvious reasons, still doesn’t hold top position for fidget time. The lock can be wearisome after some time.

The packaging means nothing to me, maybe eye pleasing for about 3 mins… Then I toss it.
I don’t have any real use for little knife box’s.
I’de be okay with the knife being wrapped in brown paper.

Re: Spyderco C16 Wayne Goddard
I have the red one from nicks knives .
It’s a great knife, light weight 4v steel and really nice color combo.
Only reason I don’t carry it more, is I’m afraid of rusting it in the sauna.
One of my favorites.

Taichung has the best quality imo.
Spydiechef, Caribbean, Swayback, Tuff … I’de have to look at more of my knives. Nothing has that quality beat.
They have been perfect.

Re: Bodacious lightweight salt
I don’t want to be that guy…
I have trouble with frn Spyders, sans the Delica (2/3) and pm3. They seem always to be off center, so bad sometimes they hit the top of the scales.
Lightweight seems nice in theory but this has been a big issue in my eyes.

Re: Titanium cutting boards
Wood cutting boards for me.
Like others mentioned I think of the edge damage and cringe at the thought of titanium.
If germs are a concern I would consider using diluted bleach or vinegar to clean the board, good to go.
I think I should get a good wood one instead of cutting on a dinner plate ...
