A Spyderco in Time Saves Nine
Now to be clear, I am not at all against the use of knives for self protection, to me that's just one of many legitimate uses. But it annoys me to no end when people see a locking folder that can easily be deployed with one hand and decry it as a weapon that should be restricted to military and law ...

Re: Backlock is my favorite lock, even for fidgeting...
lol There are dozens of us Seriously I do quite like a well executed backlock. It's not that I don't like other mechanisms too, but there's just something about it. Someone commented on the uniformity regardless of size, and I think there's something to that. Spyderco does them well, though I consid...

Re: Did Anyone Purchase Cold Steel December 2020
Picked up their production version of the AD-10. I have to admit this is a very nice piece, I hadn't gotten a Cold Steel in quite some time but I've always wanted a Demko original but that's not cheap and the timing/availability never worked out.

Re: MAP pricing policy favors amazon. Bad for vendors (that are not Amazon) and consumers.
For whatever this is worth, for me and my habits, the MAP does have the opposite effect (i.e. it drives me off of Amazon) to a point, it doesn't drive me to the very small retailers but it does drive me to the larger specialty retailers. If it's the same price everywhere I tend to buy from specialty...

Re: Post a spydie and a gun thread
When my brother-in-law's department retired their P85s, they offered them to the officers. His was worn and had a "patina" from many years of patrolling and cleaning. I gave him the money to buy it and give to his son. It might not seem like much now I told him, but decades from now it wo...

https://i.imgur.com/Eyivv3D.jpg?1 Dad's Ruger P85, Mark II naturally, with his Spyderco Manix, and a Surge to stand in for his Leatherman Wave. My father left this world far too early, just over 15 years ago now. This was his last loadout, with the exception of the Leatherman Surge, that's actually...

Re: Who had a good 2020?
It was a mixed year for me with some awesome developments (a long awaited promotion, completion of a certification that took me a year and a half, and partial completion of the next certification) and some terrible ones, mostly consisting of economic hardship for various people in my life, and in so...

Re: Your Spyderco Christmas Eve And Christmas Day EDC
I'm going to cheat a little bit and discuss future EDCs which will be on the way soon because I ordered them on Christmas Eve. I told myself if I passed my exam yesterday (the 23rd) I could get a new knife. I really wanted another Manix 2 to use as a practical EDC, but I also really wanted to get my...

Re: Spyderco manufacturing certification?
Hi TenGrainBread, Thanx for the info, but I'm quite familiar with them. We were working on a bayonet project for a government that didn't know squat about knives or bayonets. We spend a great deal of money ($30K+) developing a design that they wanted. We didn't get the contract though our product w...

Re: Seconds & used sale - a perspective
I would just like to say I do appreciate it being online this year, I've known about the seconds sale for a long time but it's just not realistic I'll go to one in person any time in the foreseeable future.
It was nice to get a chance to participate at least once.

Re: Buck 110 talk
Buck 110 variants have always been interesting. In the early 90s as a boy I was so excited when my SMKW order came in and I got the "Bucklight" version, the 110 with a plastic handle and the 420 blade. I had it for many years until someone borrowed it and lost it and I've lamented that eve...

Re: Completely Forgotten Spyderco Models: Your Favorites?
I have two deceased friends of mine who both just raved over the Cricket and Dodo models both. And these two guys were not "knife people" at all>> but they sure loved both of those models. The Carbon Fiber Cricket was my fav but there was also a Pink CRICKET that drew a lot of collector i...

Nice score! I have a Gen 5 G17 I would suggest a 3.5 pound connector and polish. Its does help imo. Its very dam hard to beat a Glock for edc imo They aren't called the Austrian Super Gun for nothing They're tough as ****, shoot good, and very inexpensive! https://i.postimg.cc/C5Ysd4G5/20200403-131...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
I shouldn't have, but when I went home for Thanksgiving I went to the local gun store in the small town I grew up in and I was astonished to see so many different models of Glock for sale (17,19, 19 MOS, 26,42,43,45 MOS and I want to say they had even a 43X too). Living in a city where I haven't see...

Re: 2020 Seconds Sale - SOLD OUT!
As someone who would and will in all likelihood never actually get to go to this sale if it were held the traditional way (although I've been aware of it for a long time), I do appreciate this event and it was a good idea and a responsible thing to do in light of the current... mess. I am grateful I...

Re: Apparently - Cold Steel Has Been Bought
I wanted to thank everyone for this thread and their contributions to it, I was unaware this had happened until yesterday. I will up front admit I certainly don't think Cold Steel knives are in any way bad or inferior or anything like that, I have owned some of their products in the past and I still...

Hoping to see more of the fixed blades pop up, or some of the bread and butter folders (Delica/Endura/Police), but I doubt very much I see those honestly. Oh they might pop up but they'll be goooooone before I see them, ha.

Re: Spyderco Online Seconds Sale FAQ
Heads up to anyone checking this, I got it to work a few minutes ago, it's slow but it seems the worst of the problem has passed. I got a much desired P'kal (Can I just say how happy I am these are still around, I got my first one in 2011), an idea use case for a factory second if there ever was one...
