Again, maybe silly! But I think the whole "awareness and listen to your instincts - thing" (IF the book is partly about it!!) is a double edged sword: For many, especially in more dangerous areas, sure a very good approach!! But sometimes it can lead to people living in more "fear" and less relaxed...

But of course this one is a Sprint and if you send it in you're probably not getting it back. Sucks
I'm curious, why do you say that? Would Spyderco just refund you without fixing the issue or sending a new knife? Have you heard of this happening, or experienced yourself?

Re: Try this at home. New sharpening method.

Again, really interesting! But then: I somehow think if the "coarse/fine" - approach was really advantageous in a larger variety of tasks, some of the "sharpening wizards" here on the forum would have come up with it and shared it here already?! Who knows, maybe we're on the verge of a great discov...

Re: Try this at home. New sharpening method.

Wonder if, in order to produce this kind of edge, it is enough to just use the white rod on the sharpmaker on one side, the CBN on the other for finishing - it should, right? I believe it was something like 250 grit on one side, 6000 grit on the other. I can't exactly replicate that but I'm thinkin...

Re: Try this at home. New sharpening method.

I’m very curious about this. I’ll give it a try on the KME when I get some time. I’m thinking the ZDP Delica will be an ideal candidate.

Re: Has K390 "obsoleted" M4/REX45/HAP40?

I just like the fact that if I’m going away for the weekend I don’t have to bring a pocket stone or strop, but there are plenty of steels that accomplish that. In terms of hard tool steels, I still love zdp to be honest

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..

I dyed a yellow Pac Salt 2 today using navy blue liquid RIT. Medium saucepan about half full of water on the simmer, added 2 tablespoons vinegar and a dash of dish soap and simmered the knife whole for a minute to strip oils. Added about 3 tablespoons of dye and held the knife with tongs in the solu...

Re: Need your Educated Opinions

The Para 3 is light and slicey but it is not very slicey. The Chaparral is very light and very slicey, but it is a small knife. The Delica is light and very slicey and a good size for what you need I believe. If you want something slightly less lightweight but good sliceyness, size and ergos I would...

Re: Official Petition for a Premium Tenacious

Well, I don’t think the country of origin is gonna change any time soon because it’s one of the higher-value designs. There are several Japan, Taiwan, and US-produced models in the same size category to choose from. They did just release an S35VN model though, not sure if you’re aware of that. From ...

Re: Tonight I Wore Through a Sharpmaker

https://i.postimg.cc/B6wnR5vX/20210219-013344-HDR.jpg Reprofiled a PE and SE knife to 15dps tonight and cut through my sharpmaker base in the process. Time to order another  Holy smokes! Well at least you used the heck out of it. How long would it take to reprofile say an H1 Pac Salt that way?

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Did a first reprofiling on my Chaparral FRN this evening, only took about 30 minutes. On the KME, I quickly ran through 140, 300, and 600 grit diamond hones. CTS-XHP works up a very nice tactile burr that’s easy to push back and forth and weaken. The steel is also very easy to grind for how long it ...

Looks nice and even! Such a great feeling of success when it works out. Nothing beats some fresh steel

Thanks. I especially love doing that first reprofile, because now all touch ups and sharpenings will be so easy and consistent.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Finally got around to reprofiling my Police 4 LW. 140 grit diamond, 300 grit diamond at 13 DPS on the KME. Finished on the Sharpmaker brown stone corners, 3 strokes per side and white corners 3 strokes per side- 30 degree slots. Cutting very nicely! https://i.postimg.cc/FHS81x3F/19-E7-E08-C-6938-4-D...

Re: Does Taichung Apply a Microbevel?

I looked with a loupe at 20x and could not find a microbevel, but I'm positive that my Seki and Golden models come with them... and I seem to recall somebody confirming that here on the forums. Mostly I wanted to point out that Taichung does a fantastic job with their grinds and sharpening- really e...

Does Taichung Apply a Microbevel?

I received my 2nd Taichung model today- a Sage 5 lightweight. It has one of the sharpest factory edges I've ever experienced, but I could not detect the subtle glint of a microbevel like I can with my other models' factory edges. Is it just an extra tiny one, or do they not apply one? I really don't...

The Police 4 carries remarkably small, more so than the Military in my opinion; even smaller than the Manix 2! What I’m saying is, I think you’d like one ;)

Re: Tip-down (heresy? maybe not...)

I've been a tip-up knife person for years and years and I knew when I ordered my Military that I might not like it for the fact that it's tip-down only. I was pleasantly surprised however to find just how much I like it for this knife- or at least, how little difference it really makes. I love the M...

Thanks for the great photos. I finally have a grasp on what this knife really looks like. How’s the grip and texture? How did the edge come from the Italian factory? Beautiful knife!
