Re: Spyderco shopping on Amazon - experiences

My first Spyderco knives were from Amazon. I had never held or even seen one in person before so I took a gamble and bought a Military, a PM2 and a Para 3 Lightweight from Amazon all at the same time. I wasn’t sure which one was going to be the right size for me so I got all 3 at once. Fortunately a...

Re: spray painting liners?

If cost isn’t an issue, River’s Edge Cutlery will Cerakote liners, hardware, even blades and scales. They have a lot of color options but they will NOT recreate one of their exclusives for you, meaning they won’t do OD Green scales and a FDE coated blade (maybe they will invert them though). https:/...

Re: Is anyone else completely in love with the Dragonfly?

I got the CruWear Dragonfly last week and it’s been in my pocket as a backup knife ever since. I haven’t used it much yet but I’m starting to really like it.

Re: Which one will dominate?

M390 has a very coarse structure for a PM steel and so is no tougher than S90V/S110V so I would rather use those. I don’t know why M390 is considered the hot steel right now. I didn’t know M390 had such poor toughness if it’s as likely to chip as S110V. So far I haven’t chipped it on my Para 3. I g...

Re: Which one will dominate?

I hate to throw another steel into the mix here but if one of these three were to be crowned the new “king” of stainless blade steels, where would that put M390/20CV/204p? Isn’t that the current “king” of stainless steels? I know this topic is about which of these steels will be more dominant in the...

Re: Knife Joy Exclusive Para 3 LW 20CV

I’ve been wanting a Para 3 in 20CV but I wasn’t expecting it in a lightweight model. I hope this is a fairly large run since there’s no buying limit, otherwise the scalpers will buy em all up to resell.

I’m sure these suggestions have already been made but I don’t want to read through 4 pages of comments so here’s my suggestions based on personal experience. r/knife_swap on Reddit things sell quicker than Bladeforums and the only acceptable form of payment is PayPal Goods & Services. That adds ...

Re: Just curious about Police 4, why K390 and NOT M390?

Yeah I’m not really sure there’s anything new that’s come along in the past 10 years that beats M390/204p/20CV as the overall best stainless steel for EDC blades. Of course there’s always a new steel with slightly better edge retention but none that are cheap enough to mass produce knives with. Ther...

Re: Just curious about Police 4, why K390 and NOT M390?

I believe the Police is meant to be a “hard use” knife so K390 is perfect for that. M390 and it’s American variants (204p & 20CV) are my favorite steels for EDC knives but they aren’t super tough so I wouldn’t recommend them for hard use. Where did you get the info that K390 is tougher than M39...

I’m not even crazy about pink but it looks nice with the black hardware & blade. But I just bought the Cru-Carbon Dragonfly, so the Delica will have to wait.

Re: Para 3 Tanto??

The Para 3 is my favorite Spyderco model and I’d love a Tanto version. I have the PM2 Tanto in S30V and M4 but it’s a larger knife than I prefer to carry everyday. I’m not picky about the steel, I’d just love to see it happen. But since Spyderco has only used 3V once before that I know of, it would ...

This could be the result of a CQI change where the PM2 and some others are changing from S30V to S45VN.
?
As standard?
Yep the PM2 & Para 3 are listed as having S45VN in the 2021 catalog. And Sal confirmed it as a “steel CQI”.

Danke, I wouldn't say that we have a circle of trust. If we do, it's the trust that our customers (you) give us. The Abel Reels Exclusive was not the first of its kind - the end product was unique, absolutely, but the partnership was not. Kristi My observation is that I think it would take more leg...

You probably need to be in the circle of trust before asking. But they do unique collaborations like this. This was not through a typical online knife store. Re: The upcoming Salt 2 ffg: Spydercos (Mini-) Bugout alternative and more? Perfect ultralight hiking knife?

I often carry a Para 3 with carbon fiber scales (a few grams lighter than G-10) or a Para 3 lightweight and a Bugout or Mini Bugout throughout the week. I don’t notice a huge weight difference between any of them. But the Mini Bugout is so light it’s easy to forgot it’s in your pocket. I even took i...

Re: Balde education please

I find the blade shape of the Para 3 (a smaller PM2) to be perfect for most daily tasks, but not as a “hard use” knife. I know the Para 3 is an evolution of the PM2, which itself was an evolution of the Military, but I believe it’s intended use is for basic daily tasks and not so much as a tactical/...
