So, after somewhat talking myself into just accepting the consistent issues concerning lock stick, lateral blade play and off-centering, I noticed my new 15V M2 has (delevoped/had in the first place) quite a bit of detent lash, more than any other Spyderco I own.
I'm getting a tiny bit frustrated ...

Re: M2 15V lock stick default?
After literally dozens of disassemblies and reassemblies over the last two weeks I kind of managed to minimize the lock stick to a point where it's yet still noticable but mostly does not bother me...
Seems like I need to leave the stop pin screws really, really loose, almost protruding the scales ...

Re: M2 15V lock stick default?
Just one man's opinion or observation -
We live near the SFO, so we will go and handle knives, and we've probably handled about 75-120 compression lock Spydies over the past year or two. We have about 8-10 compression lock Spydies in the house. The general observation is that finding a Golden ...

Just replace Cruwear in the CruCarta line with Magnamax and we'll have the (drum roll) MagnaCarta ... win-win

Re: M2 15V lock stick default?
You could call customer service and see what they have to say.
Since I'm in Europe, sending the knife in (which would be the customers service advice, I'd guess) isn't really an option.
I'd rather get to the gist of the problem in order to understand what exactly is going on and to then maybe ...

Re: M2 15V lock stick default?
Have you tried to polish the stop pin?
I recall someone mentioned that his stop pin had slight milling grooves, and when he polished the stop pin it solved the stickiness.
I inspected all three stop pins very carefully in that direction whilst cleaning, but they were all shiny and smooth, so ...

Re: M2 15V lock stick default?
I've only owned two, but both had it. One was so bad it was painful to disengage and would slap the liner when it finally did.
I was able to dial that one in by loosening all the screws and tightening back one by one after rotating the stop pin, some oil, and the pencil trick. It took a good ...

Re: M2 15V lock stick default?
I have one I got a month ago now and it works flawless. I setup all my blades so that when I clutch the blade lock the blade drops quickly. This setup is not for everyone, it's just how I prefer mine.
I clutch my M2 - 15V and the blade drops and it locks instantly when I open the knife. I am not ...

M2 15V lock stick default?
So I've handled three different Military 2 in 15V (one from a 2024 batch, two from a 2025 batch) and all of them came with a imho quite off-putting amount of lockstick that wouldn't go away regardless of what I tried... I went disassembly and thorough cleaning, I went sharpie, I went lead pencil, I ...

Failed in resisting the BBB M2 any longer. Dang it.

Re: Native Chief Cruwear Micarta
Well good luck to Eric, hope this run works out well. Debating between the Manix XL, Chief or Millie for my first crucarta knife.
I’m in the same boat between the Manix XL and the Chief. I already have a Cruwear sprint Manix XL but what puts me off the chief is (ironically) its linerless ...

Re: Native Chief Cruwear Micarta
Can confirm it's linerless. I handled it at shot show and loved it. No flex in the handle. I had this in my mind and didn't notice any additional handle flex.
I was going to get one before I found a Jade/Dlc/M4 version for a smoking good deal.
Interesting, thanks for confirming. I know Sal ...

Re: Native Chief Cruwear Micarta
I'd be actually suprised if they introduced liners for the Crucarta Chief... maybe they found a way to stabilize the micarta they are using on this?
Pretty sure Eric stated in an interview micarta scales would be too flexible to use without liners.

Re: Liner Lock Accidental Opening
Happened to me with both a backlock and a compression lock knife... it's most likely a tip up carry issue pretty much on any knife. I guess they were catching a bit the cloth of my pocket, barely noticeable, but enough to unlock them.

Re: Cqi question
Pretty certain any Spydiechef out there at dealers is a CQI version... from the looks of it the KJ version does have the coated screws as well, which were part 2 of the Spydiechef's CQI after the ceramic detent.
