Re: Native Lwt Magnacut SE thoughts

Anyone have any opinions of the Native using the model in SE ? I want to try out Magnacut in SE but would appreciate feedback . MG2

I bought one of these when they first came out and have given it a fair bit of use. The Magnacut has been robust and held an edge very well in SE. Mine is also ...

Re: Price point….

Choose a knife you want and like at your price point but no need to carry on about a knife that is too expensive for your liking.

A basic Para 2 is $200. That’s about half the cost of a handgun. And things only go up from there. Telling people to not express their concerns about price just ...

Re: Price point….

I just bought a new 4x4 after driving one similar for 18 years.
So I am kitting the new 4x4 same as I did 18 years ago.
New bull bar, tow bar, underbody protection and storage etc

I still have all the receipts for the last kit out.
Nothing is at a believable price now to 18 years ago.

But ...

Re: Why Did The Jumpers Fail?

I love my K390 Leafjumper. It by far has the best FRN kickback action of any Spyderco. Only the G10 Stretch XL Cruwear is close. My Stretch 2 K390 is absolutely awful by comparison (won’t even snap shut and is difficult to shake closed one handed… can’t do it without blade play and also has lock ...

Re: Starmate vs GB2

I've always been attracted to the Starmate design but I can't see the point of such a robust knife in a relatively fragile steel. I have a number of knives in 20CV and they have all taken damage where S30V would have been fine. To me there is no question that the GB2 with 3mm stock and M4 is a way ...

This isn't my perspective, but it is the perspective of many backpackers. Posting here for the sake of getting all sides of the story:

8. Knife – To be honest, the real reason that a knife made the list is so that I could remind readers of how relatively useless they actually are to the modern ...

Welcome Erica. I'm sure you will be a valuable member of our forum. I learned of your YouTube channel through the forum and it was a revelation to me. You actually use and sharpen the knives you review! You are also great at articulating your ideas and opinions.

I would start with the 30 degree slots on the brown rods, do about 4 passes on the front side then 1 pass on the back and repeat. In the future if you keep damaging the edge maybe a slightly thicker edge will suit your uses better, then I'd sharpen it on the 40 degree slots ...

Leaning towards the Aqua Salt and Leatherman . 50/50 on bringing the light machete. What would you pick?

That's what I'd bring, maybe plus the M2 Salt. Clearing stuff with a machete is generally much slower than going around or scrambling over so if it was me I'd leave that behind unless ...

Yeah, I honestly am not sure what a liner lock is supposed to offer over a compression lock.

for me liner locks offer nothing but draw backs compared to compression locks.

It's a weaker lock more prone to failure and accidental unlockings. Cut-outs in the handle to facilitate easier ...

3. If I’m being totally selfish, the compression lock. I’ve tried it and I just can’t warm up to it. In reality I know a lot of people love it so I wouldn’t wish for it to disappear. Maybe Spyderco could use some of the PM2 capacity to make other stuff?

A bit along your lines:

I have ...

Re: Batoning Enuff 2?

I was a Boy Scout and later a Boy Scout leader while my 2 Sons were in the program (both are Eagle Scouts) for a combined time of over 20 years. We had a lot of time camping, hiking, climbing, caving etc. and I never had the need to baton any wood. I tried it a couple of times but I used a ...

Re: Lil Temp XL? Moderate Temp? Mid Temp? Discuss the 3.5" Temp folder here!

The Lil' Temp 3 is a favourite of mine, particularly the G10 version. I would love and immediately buy a 3.5" or 4" version as long as the weight is kept under or close to 4.5oz.

Once a knife gets up to 5 oz I know I just won't carry it very often even if I like everything else about it. The Gayle ...

Re: Flashlights

Two flashlights which are good, cheap, waterproof and robust with long run times are the Lumintop Tool AA 2 and Lumintop EDC15.

They both use rechargeable 14500 batteries with USB C charging ports on the batteries rather than the torch. I think this is a big advantage because it makes the torches ...

Re: C240BKALBKCWP Black Cruwear Smock Exclusive

So aside paying a premium for a sprint, what does this really bring that the normal s30v version doesn't? I wouldn't call Aluminum vs Carbon Fiber a huge win either way. s30v vs Cruwear, Cruwear for durability but s30 from what I could find should hold an edge longer and be more corrosion ...

First = Military + Foliage Green G10 Endura bought together in 2008 because of postage costs. First international purchase I ever made.

Favourite = so many it's embarrassing but over the years the Endura has been a consistent favourite. I go through periods of resenting the lock rock or wishing ...

Re: Which Spyderco for a Reliable and Versatile EDC?

Maybe an offbeat answer but if you are looking for versatility in a great knife the combo edge Tenacious LW in S35VN can be had for under $85.

I own and thoroughly enjoy multiple PM2 and Manix 2s and after shunning the China made Spydercos until recently I now have to admit that the Tenacious is ...

I carry a Rebar in my bag, and a Surge in the car. Both rarely gets used.

I made a cool little kit for the Surge. Added a LM bit extender, bit kit, bit ratchet, AAA flashlight and a jigsaw blade to cut metal.

Ah yeah, the Siren, both pre-cqi and post-cqi, suffer from this too.

I will agree Golden models tend to have less rock, but acting like it's a seki city exclusive issue doesn't match reality.

I agree. My S90V Siren is pretty good but my CQI Siren Salt has Seki level lock rock. Only the ...

Re: Stretch 2 XL: torque wrench-like click under pressure

It's not a seki city issue. It's a Spyderco issue.

I've owned 12 Native Chiefs. They all had lock rock. So has everyone I handled in shops (another ~30)

Every C95 and mini C95 I've handled had it (~12 or so)

Lockback Mini Manix 2 I handled had it.

I've handled or owned every generation of ...
