Re: SpyOpera, Brouwer, ...

The Brouwer would be a great choice. It's beautifully made and is quite a unique piece. The blade is fairly thick at 3mm but is ground thin behind the edge and it always surprises me how well it slices. The blade shape is excellent for edc. It has a lot more belly than most Spydercos so that even th...

Re: Manix 2 LW needs an update badly.

I agree that the handle could be a little more bevelled on the Manix 2 LW but I like the riveted construction with adjustable pivot. I once lost a screw out of the lock pin of a PM2 on a long trip in the bush. I had never touched that screw before and have no idea why it came loose or why I didn't n...

Re: Which folder?

Great thread Doc Dan. I have spent quite a bit of time thinking about this and have been in a number of "survival" situations over the years and what I have learnt is you don't get to pick the time and you really do have only what you are carrying. The longest period like this I have had w...

Re: Pac salt green frn lc200n shipping to dealers!

Hello all, I got my SE version about 2 weeks ago now and have had time to reprofile it and use it a bit. It's my first ffg SE and I had a month to anticipate it waiting for delivery to Australia. I am actually quite disappointed so far. It is certainly not in the same class quality-wise as my Pac Sa...

Re: Just for fun. What configuration?

S110v Pac Salt 2 and Salt 2 FFG with dark blue or black handle. I like the weight and linerless construction but would gladly give the last 5% of corrosion resistance for extreme edge holding. I'm with James Y on S110V.

Native Chief with no choil, S90v and forest green micarta or G10.

Re: Lightest Weight Spydercos...?

Manix 2 LW S110v is my choice but if you want super light my Salt 1 without its clip weighs 1.7 oz and feels noticeably lighter than my frn Chaparral. 1.7 oz is also lighter than the "blue butterfly logoed elephant in the room" and is also a better choice. The blue butterfly has its good p...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

Thanks Tonijedi, I wondered if that was all too easy. I have some CBN rods inbound with an order I placed for the new lc200n Pac Salt in SE. I guess it's just a matter of working slowly with them until I'm happy with the result. I've never tried SE in FFG before and can't wait to get the new Pac Sal...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

Thanks for all the detailed discussion Evil D, I've been using SE more as time goes by but this has really inspired me. A SE knife which should be excellent is the Salt 1 but mine has long snaggy teeth and I rarely use it. SE_comparison.jpg I would like to modify it but I'm not sure how to go about ...

Re: Wildland Firefighters Knife

Great discussion you have kicked off here Fireman. I have the training but not much experience with serious wildfires. I do however have a lot of experience with barbed wire and I can't see any attachment on a knife being able to quickly cut barbed wire fences. Remember that most fences will be 4 or...

Re: H-1 Questions

I hadn't thought of sandpaper Vivi, that's a great idea. I have a good range of it for sharpening convex grinds so I'll definitely try that. It won't be hard to come up with something to wrap it around.

Re: H-1 Questions

Thanks very much for the welcome, I feel like I have come in from the cold! Welcome to the forum R100. I too would like to hear your thoughts comparing the Plain edge to the SE with the type of work you do. I've got several Pac Salts (SE) in my quiver but I'm open to new ideas. Re: H-1 Questions

Dear All, I am a long time reader/lurker on this forum but have never posted before so please forgive this long ungainly first post. I was inspired to post by this thread which got me thinking that we may lose H1 and Salt knives in the future may be made only in lc200n. I hope this doesn't happen be...
