Re: Spyderco Street Beat Review
Nice review. I've been carrying mine every day since I got it a few months ago. I have found that it pretty much "disappears" in terms of feeling the knife on me when wearing IWB front right with a paracord connecting sheath to belt or belt loop. During the winter I've been carrying it in ...

Linerless Police 4
I'm a convert. My linerless Spyderco knives (Native 5 and Native Chief) have convinced me that linerless backlock knives are the best handle/lock configuration out there. Light, corrosion-resistant, simple, rock solid, and comfortable due to the thicker scales. G10 or FRN, I'm sold. While the super ...

Re: It’s time for a Police LW Salt!!
A serrated P4 Salt would be amazing.
A linerless P4 Salt would be even MORE amazing. I love my linerless Spydercos (Native Salt and Native Chief) and I think a linerless P4 with slightly thicker scales would be an ergonomic and lightweight dream knife.

Re: Just curious about Police 4, why K390 and NOT M390?
I believe the Police is meant to be a “hard use” knife so K390 is perfect for that. M390 and it’s American variants (204p & 20CV) are my favorite steels for EDC knives but they aren’t super tough so I wouldn’t recommend them for hard use. Where did you get the info that K390 is tougher than M39...

Re: Just curious about Police 4, why K390 and NOT M390?
K390 is a production steel for Spyderco. It's on a lot of models in the catalog. Both versions of the K390 Police are/were regular production. I believe M390 has only been used on a regular production Spyderco on some of the made-in-Italy Spyderco models, because the maker there uses it a lot. Outsi...

Re: Swick 5 ETA?
I am getting the Swick Large. I recently bought a Perrin La Griffe with a hole almost the same dimension as the upcoming Swick Large and it fits well. I wouldn't really want anything smaller, and I think my hands are somewhat smaller than average for males. Like someone said above, you want to be ab...

Re: Police 4 questions
Spyderco has found that with most of their current lockback knives it is actually pretty difficult to accidentally unlock while gripping, a product of tweaking the shape of the scale cutout. So Sal has stated it's not an issue of function or safety but rather consumer preference. Implementing the bo...

Re: Salt 2 LC200 questions
"Right, I like LC200 but don't need the full Salt corrosion resistance" I guess I don't really understand this desire. From what I've seen, the only advantage of LC200N over even VG-10 is corrosion-resistance. Edge-holding is similar or better in VG-10, and definitely better with S30V. So ...

Re: Spydercos & Guns
I tend to take a very utilitarian approach to these political issues. We already live in a society in which pretty much everyone besides libertarians and anarchists agree that a "social contract" is necessary. That includes liberals and conservatives. We all agree that certain laws curtail...

Re: Would you be interested in "that" kind of Paramilitary 2 (different blade) ?
One issue I see with your mockup is that around 40% of the opening hole is obscured when closed. That would be a no-go for me. The Native Chief is a similar design to what you are looking for (maybe not as "beefy" of a blade as you would want) and it's designed with only about 5-10% of the...

Re: There's something that's a little overdue
Kristi, I think your compromise to change the banner periodically showing multiple uses is a great one. Seems like adding more work to your plate but if it's easy enough I think it's a great idea regardless of this discussion. I think the current Spyderco copy and graphics are super creative (like t...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
Starting to worry I won't be able to buy one. I've been looking for a Zwear Shaman and the only source at this point is EBAY, which I refuse to support the flipping. If the C-60 is going to be in a fancy steel, I'm concerned there will be another sellout spree. It's a backlock. Doubtful it will be ...

Re: Street Beat Sprint - Let's Get Serious!
I vote FRN because it's more economical, and also micarta Street Beats are still Fred Perrin's specialty.
A K390 FRN Street Beat would be great.

Re: Spyderco "Hyker"
Nice job with the reprofiling of the blade silhouette. It looks very smooth. I've heard various takes on LC200N's edge retention vs. VG-10, some saying equivalent, some saying one or the other takes the lead. I'd be curious to see some testing. Maybe there's data out there I'm not aware of. VG-10 te...

Re: In the end, who are sprint runs up to?
Random thoughts related to this thread: 1. Don't begin your post with "This has nothing to do with my personal desires" and then list off a bunch of personal desires and why Spyderco has failed to satisfy them. Unless you have some hard market research data on why it would be a good idea t...
