Re: Hey Sal - any news on the Maxamet Military?

A magnacut or LC200N salt Millie or Millie 2 would have more mass appeal than Maxamet imho. I see a Magnagut Millie 2 Salt being the most likely of that combo but the added toughness of the LC200N would be more true to the functionality of the blade shape. An impervious and tough Millie is an attrac...

I’d be in for a Spyderco machete, especially in H1 or similar.
I may have to make my own machete out of LC200N if I can find the right hunk of metal

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!

I had a funny thought about making a cork handle so it floats. Could be a good salt water fixed fish knife.

Re: Boating and lanyards

I’ve donated thousands of dollars of gear to the sea gods, haha. I started using these years ago and they have worked perfectly and saved both my knife and my phone (in a waterproof case) multiple times. https://i.imgur.com/S5Dy8FS.jpg Lanyards are fine for “boating” IMO but when landing a big fish...

Re: Boating and lanyards

Here’s an Amazon link to the floats I use if anyone’s interested. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09733N1KR?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I had the idea of using silicone tubing which I have not tested yet because the tubing can have more than one purpose and that is similar to what you h...

Re: Boating and lanyards

This hits home to me since I lost a Spyderco Civilian while kayaking. I may need to make a cork handle and sheath for a Spyderco Mule. A nice comfy fat cork handle on a Mule may be the bees knees. The ceramic mule is only 2.5 OZ so it should float just with a nice cork handle.

Re: Boating and lanyards

I may need to get the LC200N Catcherman as well and put a three cork lanyard on it so it is impervious to rust and sinking.

Re: Boating and lanyards

Real corks won’t take on that much water and the glued together corks have less air. I only tested real corks and champagne corks. Champagne corks I tested were half whole cork and half glued bits of cork. I would just run a paracord sheath through a champagne cork or two as needed.

Re: Boating and lanyards

Ok, 5 corks kept my endura from sinking as did 4 champagne corks for you fancy types. Also fun fact, so did one regular size pharmacy empty medicine bottle. So, roughly one cork per ounce of knife. So a Para 3 lightweight needs 3 corks, dragonfly, 2 corks, and the ladybug needs only 1 cork. So, it’s...

The buoyant force on an object equals the weight of the fluid it displaces. In equation form, Archimedes’ principle is F B = w fl , where F B is the buoyant force and w fl is the weight of the fluid displaced by the object. https://pressbooks.online.ucf.edu/phy2048tjb/chapter/14-4-archimedes-princip...

Re: Boating and lanyards

Real cork must be at least 50% air by my guess. ****! Now I need to find some corks to defend my honor. How many corks needed to float every knife model list is needed.

Re: Boating and lanyards

You could make a lanyard out of silicone tubing to get your knife to float and even add a cork to it. Use a brightly colored silicone color and use a reliable method to trap the air inside the tube. The silicone tubing can be used for all kinds of McGyver tasks while backpacking in a pinch like maki...

Wine corks and paracord are your friends. Use real one piece corks.
That is really rather clever!

Re: Yojumbo M4

I made the scales “Skinny” and added more room for my finger on the lock access. I also added a forward school that eliminates the nub when closed but the nub does not really bother me like it does on the Shaman. It’s a dream of a knife now. I swapped the blades so the M4 is on the carbon fiber now ...
