Re: enuff 2!!!

yeah. that's not my point at all. if i remember correctly, it was supposed to be released as a salt originally. Could have something to do with sales. They have H-2 coming out and Magnacut joing the salts. They could also be sitting on a lot of K390 since the LT3 is also getting that treatment. You...

Re: Stropping Question

Haven't tried the Venev Chapstick but might give it a try. I've tried the Bark river 1 Micron CBN Emulsion and it works great but at $30 for 1oz bottle I've been stingy with it. The cheap paste in the syringes from Amazon works but it's more messy. I think one of my problems is technique, where I j...

i'm still curious how this lc200n knife turned into vg10 and then k390.
Offering designs in different steels is kinda Spydercos thing, right? There's also quite a few people wanting to see something different than VG10 and black. I think it's an awesome design that deserved some variants.

Re: Stropping Question

How often do you all reapply diamond compound to your strops? I imagine that the micro diamonds in the paste/emulsion would embed into the leather initially then get shoved around with each blade pass. Asking for a friend :) I just buy thin balsa wood from a craft store and make new ones when they'...

Let's hope so, I would be in for one. Also interested in some Vanadis 4.

Re: It's All About The Heat Treat

i keep seeing words like better and best here, regarding different heat treatments. isn't that subjective? just like whatever steel of the week being better than the steel our grandparents used is subjective? i'm guilty of saying that spyderco does a much better job with 8cr13mov (presumably, i'm r...

Re: It's All About The Heat Treat

Are any of you guys (besides Larrin, BBB, and the actual knife makers amongst us) sitting around on Saturday afternoon testing blades from different manufacturers, or different heat treat batches, and evaluating for things like toughness, wear, and corrosion resistance? I'm not. Maybe I just don't ...

Re: Lil Native Light Weight?

Looking at the photos again, I noticed that there is a solid area in the frn pattern where the lock pivot is, BUT no apparent pin or screw on either side. I sure hope there is an internal steel pin in there! The N5 LW uses a stepped pin, they probably shortened it so it wouldn't protrude through th...

I suspect that after everything that went on with that Mule, it simply slipped Sal's mind at that moment that it was powder metal instead of the ingot steel he had expected when he ordered the steel.
If Sal doesn't remember the only way to know for sure is with a micrograph.

Re: What Is Your Favorite Go-To Spyderco?

Here lately it's been a 20cv DLC Para 3 but I always carry a N5LW with me at all times Rex45 or S90V. I usually rotate every few months.

Re: Folder Survey ’23 - Your Preferences Needed!

Yes but isn’t a knife survey only interesting if you make a forum knife request out of it in the end? Other wise it has zero use since all people like different models. I'm sure a few companies have made exclusives inspired by forum posts. Perhaps I'm the only one, but I buy Spyderco Forum Knives b...

If you like the PM2, you'll probably find this video interesting. Sorry for telling on you Eric!
Still not sure about that straight spine MT2. Didn't know the Spy Opera had rounded spine and lockbar, learn something new everyday. Interesting video, thanks for posting it over here.

Re: SE MagnaCut Testing Thread

I started to say PE MagnaCut has already seen a good bit of testing from the mules, but apparently there was some heat treat tweaking that happened between the mule and this Native, so doing some PE tests isn't a bad idea. I'd love for someone to get some hardness tests done to see how they compare...

Maybe they switched out the grinding discs with insert tooling? I noticed the same pattern on the swedge of a Rex 45 N5 LW.

Re: New type blade coating?

Mentioned in the Spyderco Shot Show 23 (Blade HQ) video, Eric mentions a new blade coating, anyone have any information on this? Is this to combat interference in heat treating? :thinking There's so many options, the coating industry is huge. I found 5 different types of DLC offered by 1 company! I...
