Re: Community Sharpening Journal

In the video he claims the angle is fixed. If it's not, the angle markings wouldn't make much sense. Well if you watch the demonstration the vertical shaft clearly moves in use. If the rod was fixed the edge angle would change when moving the knife in the clamp. After watching it a few times it's s...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Is there anyone here smarter than I am who can explain how this could possibly work: https://youtu.be/dTyeLn7kt08 I get how it could work on a knife with axe-like geometry (like the ER he demonstrates it on), but Im not seeing how it could work on a knife meant to function like a knife. It does loo...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Very nice - The Glitch is one of my favorites! Oh, nice Delica too. ;) I dyed this Glitch a couple months ago. https://i.imgur.com/f3iIpqu.jpg Planning to do another one soon. Such a cool pair! I missed out on the Hap40 sprints. Hopefully they make a comeback one day. I've only thrown a few rounds ...

Hey, Josh:
Any chance you could post links?

Thanks!

Kristi
Here's a couple but there's more. If you search eBay for "Manix 2 tactical" the fakes show up first.

Found another listing that includes the three previous steels and Magnacut. Looks just as fake as the others.

Fake Manix 2 LWs on Ebay?

There seems to be an influx of fake Manix 2s on ebay from several new sellers. They even let you pick between Maxamet, S90V, and BD1N all for the same to good to be true price. They all look to be the new screw construction. The S90V should only be available pinned right?

Would love to see the 15v Manix 2 LW in regular production but Eric said in a Shot Show video that it was going to be a sprint run. https://youtu.be/dDFVwaxmVx8?si=j2L754pU9Dzep0HO

Well after a few years of collecting Sydercos I finally got my first Delica, in K390 of course. I think this thread pushed me to give it a try.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

That makes sense, however, that doesn't change the accuracy of the observations. A smoother surface RA on the Spyderco fine makes more of the finer 5-10μm particles able to interact with the edge bevel. Great now my head hurts thinking about RA vs particle size. Would changing the RA on a stone wit...

Spyderco Fine https://i.imgur.com/YRrbKa1.jpeg Spyderco Ultra Fine https://i.imgur.com/Yur3HJN.jpeg I thought this was very interesting, The difference in abrasive size is basically the same. Both the Ultra Fine and the fine both have larger ~15μm abrasive grains with smaller 5-10μm abrasive partic...

Re: Spyderco Byte / Shot show question

The Shot Show report in the February Byte tells us Paul Alexander and Shaun Houston were showing prototypes. Any clues or hints? I am excited by the prospect of new designs from these guys! A small liner lock prototype was mentioned in one of the Shot Show threads. Shawn had a really interesting pr...

Re: Ok, could it be that LC200N fares better against Magnacut than some might think?

I think sometimes people are discussing different things when strength, toughness and edge stability are brought up. The way I personally define it: edge stability - an edges ability to resist change toughness - an edges ability to resist chipping and fracturing when its toughness limits are exceed...

Less grinding.
Perhaps a CPM mule mold?
Doesn't the HIC Mule and C109 "S" use a process similar to this?

Any idea how they price seconds? Seems weird the Maxamet and S110v manix 2s have a higher msrp than the Siren but are cheaper as seconds.

Thanks for taking the time to test and share with us here. Very interesting to see the difference in Bess vs ELab numbers. Has anyone every run this type of test with 440c vs cast 440c to see if there really is a difference in aggression?

Thank you! This is the reason I'm having this problem. I'm looking into another sharpening method for certain knives I've got
The plates are held on with two sided tape so you could always pop one off and put a spacer under it.
