May not be for everyone but a JD Smith or a Goddard would be tops on my list . MG2
100% these two. I keep hoping to see these get re released in some form or another. Excellent designs.

Though I also hope it’s not the blade hq M4 as my sweat corrodes literally everything it touches :'(

Re: Blade HQ Jade/M4 Dodo SE coming

I’m super excited to finally get my hands on a dodo, especially a serrated one! Haven’t been excited for an exclusive drop in a while. Oddball, yet functional, designs like this are a big reason I love Spyderco so much. That said, I can’t stand the jade G10 - does anybody know any makers who will do...

Re: Any love for the Amalgan?

I really don’t have anything new to add that hasn’t been said, but would still like to take this opportunity to express my love for the Amalgam. Excellent geometry, robust tip, no hump, and a very very ergonomic handle. The flipper tab and comp lock combo seemed like it could have been a problem, bu...

Re: Knives you wanted to dislike but ended up loving

I really thought I’d end up selling theKnife Joker translucent green manix LW. By the time I bought it I had been through 4 manixes that I never quite bonded with. The design of it always spoke to me but in practice I just never used em, or in the case of LWs they has some issues I couldn’t fix beca...

Re: I'm going to EDC PE H1 until August

I’m following for the updates, this is a neat experiment. As time has gone on steels in everyday use have become less and less important to me. I still like to nerd out about all the steels and their chemical makeups and attributes, that stuff is very interesting to me, but in real life the actual k...

Re: It would be really cool if Spyderco could switch from 8Cr13MoV for budget blades to 14C28N

Probably not realistic for it to be a direct replacement for 8cr, especially in keeping the models at their current prices. But that said, in theory I totally agree with you - 14c28n is pretty good stuff in my experience.

Re: Mystery DLT Exclusive

Steet Beat does fit the vibe of the pic, but I’d be surprised to see a fixed blade exclusive. That’s pretty much folder territory. Fixed blade exclusive would be a huge surprise, but the DLT group on Facebook seems big on fixies, so maybe they’re trying something new out? I’d dig it, and that pic D...

Re: Increase in Exclusives?

I love the idea of having many steel and color variants, so exclusives are great for that, but I wish the dealers would take bigger chances. Knifejoy brought back the Bowie, which I didn’t want, but at least it was something different. I completely why dealers go with the safe bet and get an exclusi...

Re: Any experience with Itamae knives?

What do you think is better about those makers’ knives when compared to Seki City? I think I’ll eventually do what you recommend and purchase some Japanese knives, but for now I have virtually no user experience and would just like to know your perspective. The grind on the Itamae seems rather thic...

Re: Any experience with Itamae knives?

I do love the look of those burl g10 handles, but I think the price is a bit steep. There’s a lot of Japanese makers that make better kitchen knives at a better price. Takamura, Wakui, Tanaka, Anyru, etc. Though regardless, I highly recommend shelling out some cash for a high quality Japanese knife,...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement

I think perhaps the end of the lockbar that contacts the blade needs a little bit greater of an angle to prevent the lockbar from pushing up. That said I’ve used the siren a whole lot and it took this thread for me to notice the issue. Spyderco will figure out the problem eventually, but until then ...

Hope the pics help. There’s less material than on the Enduras before you hit the hollowed out void area.

Re: Endura finger choil

Yeah there’s already a lot of other choiled designs, and personally I don’t see the need for it. IMO choils are best on knives like the para 3 and the Native, and seems unnecessary on larger blades. Enduras are perfect as is. My favorite spyderco, would hate to see it changed.

Re: Native 5 salt lockbar tightness

I bought two and they’re both stiff, though I opened up one and bent the spring ever so slightly. Definitely made a difference, it’s a fair bit smoother now. Not flickable or anything but it’s less stiff than the untouched one.

Re: What about a Watu lightweight?

I hit yes for chap treatment, but I’d buy an FRN watu in any steel really. XHP is great stuff, but 52100 or cruwear sounds awesome as well. Even a more budget minded VG10 would be an instant buy.

Also while we’re changing the watu, I’d like an XL version please :D
