Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll

It's a function of: Knife Size Carry Location In terms of size, small to medium knives work better with tip up - Delica for example. One you reach Endura size it could go either way. Once you reach Military / Police / Ulize length handles Tip Down is much faster / requires less grip shifting to reac...

Re: Street Bowie sheath dulls edge.

I got rid of my Street Bowie due to the sheath dulling. A few reverse grip draws and the edge was dull.

Claiming you need to adjust your draw on a combat / emergency knife (which is what this knife is made for) is not a satisfying solution.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report

Wonderful pictures. Excited for the Charisma, and potentially the CPM-15 M2. However, is this large imperfection smudge logo(?) thing going to be on the production knives? It really detracts from the aesthetics, and looks like theres a stain/imperfection on the blade rather then a clearly defined l...

Re: Military Sprint Runs No More?

While I like the new Military 2 version, to me it’s a larger PM2 and not so much a “Military” anymore. I’m not writing this to provoke a discussion about their relative merits or how one can’t stop the flow of “progress” — just a personal opinion from someone who’s a huge fan of the original. Absol...

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)

Some simple customization, added a little traction tape to the Mil2 pocket clip. Helps with the draw, and adds a little personalization. https://i.ibb.co/52MHXKP/Military-2-Clip-grip-tape.jpg Spyderco is working on new coating technology / colors. Photoshop of what a 'Military Green' coating could l...

I'm excited for the new color options besides black.

At SHOT they showed a tan coating:

Personally I'm hoping we can see a sort of Army / Industrial dark green as well:

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread

Caly 4 - how exciting! I’ve been considering a Caly for a while just off the back of Bolster’s glowing recommendations, but I prefer a 4inch (or larger) blade wherever possible. Now I’m just hoping it comes in Magnacut or something similarly rust resistant (but really Magnacut 😜). I'm hoping it has...

Re: High-Impact Ceramic (HIC) first folder to be released

I'd like to see something akin to the Blackie Collins non-metallic folder. Ceramic blade, G10 push button lock with berilyium copper spring, delrin pivot and screws, carbon fiber pocket clip. https://www.bladehq.com/item--Blackie-Collins-Zytel--4502 https://i.ibb.co/j3St03X/Screen-Shot-2024-02-05-at...

https://youtu.be/32eKN-YgoEY?si=Y-IPq629tZPks9J2 That prototype Tan coated blade is really promising. Definitely see that paired with a G19X on instagram EDC posts. https://i.ibb.co/xjS7LD6/spyderco-tan-coated-blade.png A dark Army Green I think would also be awesome if that's an option, especially...

Re: Delica 4 in 2024?

I'd love to see another run of the G10 Delica and Endura. Those were fantastic knives and really made the awesomeness of the design very apparent. G10 + full steel liners + steel backspacer resulted in a classy look too - a gentleman's serious use pocket knife. They were also the bridge between the ...

Most interesting that this thread pops up again. Because lately I've been on a rant for a Sprint Run of the G-10 HARPY.
Along those lines, I'd love a G10 Cricket.

Re: Experiences with hawkbills?

I find the Reverse-S way more useful; I think it's a better mouse trap. With the Hawkbill, everything is initiated with the tip of the blade, I'm rarely making contact with much of the rest of the edge. With the S, you can also begin cuts with the belly of the blade, especially with SE, while still ...

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)

A fun little family set I have put together. Not sure that my favorite isn't the oldest design however they are all terrific knives. Great comparison pics. On the Mil2, is the black pocket clip painted (like on the Endura/Delica) or is it some kind of hard finish like DLC (such as used in the Mil 1...

Re: Please show some love for the Gauntlet

I also like the oval stones. Yes for an in-between grit (similar to DMT fine 600 grit), and for a 15 dps base. I think the oval stones are more effective because: - they are longer than the SM triangles - they contact the blade edge in a smaller area than the SM flats, so higher pressure at the con...

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)

Been using the Mil2 more this week, and I'm really impressed with the factory sharpness. It melts through plastic film on packages / food without pressure or resistance (this is what I typically look for in sharpness.) Its so effortless I opened a vinyl plastic envelope the other day, and the knife ...

A modern field / travel sharpener similar to the Fold a Vee. The Fold a Vee was designed by Sal, then was sold to Lanksy, and is now discontinued. There remains no real field / travel V sharpener on the market since: https://www.spydiewiki.com/images/8/84/105M.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7037/...

Some pics of the Digi M2 from Reddit, with helpful size comparison. Always good to get real life pics vs stock photos for examining the color.
