Re: New Spyderco.com!
Hi, DansGearAddiction:
Thank you for the detailed feedback. The old website was a custom build, so we had a lot of flexibility. The new site is built on a platform, so there are limitations to what we can do in terms of customization and formatting in certain areas.
I don't see "Account" under ...

Re: New Spyderco.com!
I work as a web developer for a living and would recommend a few small changes:
The letter spacing and font size for "Account" in the hamburger menu is inconsistent with the other menus.
The sort by filter on the product page should say "Low to High" or "A-Z" instead of ascending/descending ...

In terms of products, this is easily my favorite Reveal in the last 5 years.

I'm also getting logged out frequently. As a web developer myself, I'm guessing this is an issue with sessions not being shared across the load balancers.

Re: Reaching for the same knives
I sold most of my collection after realizing I did the same thing.
I ended up keeping three purposeful knives -- a do-all EDC (Sebenza 31), a high-edge retention/enthusiast knife (Stretch 2 LW), and a sub-3" knife (Chaparral LW). I complement them with either a Victorinox Pioneer or CyberTool M ...

I'm very excited for this release. While I love XHP, I'm curious to see if this drops in a different steel.

Re: Oddball blade steels
Since the IP is owned by Erasteel, I wonder if licensing from Erasteel remains a possible option in the future for some of these steels that may not make sense to do small runs of utilizing other foundries? Just spit-balling here.

Re: Where are the Chaparral steels?
I think a Salt version makes the most sense. With that being said, everything, even outside of Spyderco, seems to be in Magnacut lately, so I'll be the contrarian and say LC200N since it's still a phenomenal steel :winking-tongue

Re: Classiest Spyderco Knife?
In my opinion, the Titanium Chaparral in the "Stealth" pattern is easily the classiest knife they've ever made.

I'll definitely be in for a Native 5 LW or Manix 2 LW in CPM-15V.

I'm currently reading The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs right now, which is a critique of city planning during the 1950's. Next up is Nuclear Folly: A History of the Cuban Missile Crisis by Serhii Plokhy, which is exactly what it sounds like.

Great work, Doug!
I live in Connecticut and we have a 1.5" ban (basically a de facto ban on switchblades altogether) as well. Fingers crossed that we'll soon follow.

Re: Your Knife Journey and future desires?
My journey started in 2010 after a coworker talked about how much of a game-changer carrying a knife was. I ended up buying a CRKT M16-10Z off Amazon for ~$17 and quickly found out for myself.
I managed to avoid buying any new knives for close to two years, but eventually broke and purchased a ...

I'm hoping this is going to again be accessible?
reddit banned my mod account over some absolute BS (Saying I was guilty of ban evasion for posting in a sub that I never even knew existed, much less had been banned from.) So I'm locked out and can't add new accounts.

I was able to put a Reddit Request in to get the subreddit since it was banned for being unmoderated, however, I will only allow submissions once I have confirmation that it wasn't closed at the request of Spyderco. I also have no issues passing it along to another more tenured member.

Re: Chaparral slipjoint!
I thought a Chaparral Slipit would be an automatic buy when I heard it was in the works but, having just bought a birdseye maple Chap whose wood looks like it's from a Home Depot lumber aisle, I'll probably wait for a different handle material. The knife was priced well so it's all cool, but I ...

K390 or REX121 would be my top choices. It'd be very interesting to see performance on a knife with a laser beam edge like the Chaparral.

Re: What Cell Phone Music or Radio App Do You Really Like?
I pay for YouTube Premium (which is easily my favorite streaming service) and it includes YouTube Music for free, which isn't as good as Spotify or Tidal, but does the job for me. It's $14 per month, which I feel is actually under-priced given the amount of value that I get out of the service ...
