Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?

It depends on what you define quintessential as. My interpretation is the iconic. The google turns up "representing the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class." Don't get hung up on perfect, I believe perfect in this case doesn't mean the ultimate but is tied to meaning if y...

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?

Couldn't agree more on the Rhino. It's obviously made for a liner lock and the compression lock is just awkward. I also wish the Kapara was a liner lock. This. Plus perhaps grippier scales (like an affordable, workhorse textured linerlock Kapara) and I´d have more than one! That said: As far as I a...

Re: Any recommendations?

I don't have severe arthritis, so this is conjecture, but I would imagine something like the roadie would be hard to hold and manipulate due to its thin size and proportions. I would expect a chonker would be better to hold and use, and a high hump vice sleek recessed blade would be easier to grab o...

zclubber1, Touching post. I hope you are able to reconnect. Now, because I can't help myself. What if your old friend doesn't remember giving you the knife and you keep sending him a picture of a knife on his birthday every year... Sorry, I was just picturing the scenario when I read your story. Che...

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?

In keeping with the current fervor, how about a magnacut Slyss Bowie... Just saying... A fiftieth anniversary knife of a design not of spyderco’s? 😂 How about a knife that spyderco themselves have actually designed? You may have missed the point where I said "keeping with the current fervor&qu...

Re: AI art knows Spyderco

How do you feel about structures or bridges “designed” by an “AI?” Ambivalent. Are you concerned the software will make more mistakes than humans? Humans make a lot of mistakes. Such a strange turn this thread took. Is everyone in some kind of mad panic because of some software hat tricks all of a ...

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?

We don't have particular length laws in Canada, but do have restrictions on certain types and absolutely on intent. Do not say you are carrying your dragonfly for self defence. Any knife is a tool and a tool only. Of course CBSA is for some reason allowed their own interpretation and as you have all...

Re: EDC recommendation: Native 5 LW – S30V or SPY27?

Can you please elaborate on why I would need the cbn or diamond rods in addition to the rods that are already included with the Sharpmaker? I'm new to all of this and not familiar with all the different types of rods and what each specific type is used for. I do have several older knives (not Spyde...

Re: EDC recommendation: Native 5 LW – S30V or SPY27?

For just a touch more than the price of the Spy27, I would seriously consider the magnacut. The only drawback, which I don't actually consider it to be one, is the yellow scales. The beauty of the yellow scales is they are easy to see, but also really easy to Rit Dye if you want a different colour. ...

Re: Forum Exclusive Kickstarter

Yep,

I want a red/blue/magenta/fuchsia, liner/back/power/slip joint/otf, 2.5/3/3.5/8" blade with scales in Micarta/ultem/carbon/fossilized dung, wharnie/tanto/sheepsfoot/bat'leth blade made out of 15V/magnacut/mithril/unobtanium. Price it at about $175.

I'll take two!

In and In!

Not fussy on the steel, though I am a fan of stainless.

Wouldn't mind seeing it in the "standard" Spyderco sprint of CF and S90V.

And most importantly... AVAILABLE NORTH OF THE BORDER!!!

Re: Yellow Magnacut :(

My yellow N5 Magnacut quickly became dark red. But then it morphed into AWT blue scales when they came out. So, original colour, for my purposes, is better modable, than something that won't take the colour my whim fancies on the day when I have some spare time.
