Just imagine a lw green salt Dyad with black coated blades. I wouldn’t mind a non-coated one though... just bring it back.

+1 The big one (C-44). Non-coated, please. I would buy half a dozen.

Re: Small Folders Okay Gor Self Defense?

I love posts like this because it always brings out the same crowd. The young and healthy always yell "runaway" or "get martial arts training" because they assume they will always be young and healthy. Guess what kids, you WILL get old, you WILL get infirm at some point. So what can you do if you c...

Re: Small Folders Okay Gor Self Defense?

Happened to be watching youtube yesterday and came across this video called "Kahr Syderco Delica 4 vs PORKMAN". It features Micheal Janich demonstrating what it is capable of . But, like most here, I'd advocate avoiding a confrontational situation if at all possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Re: Small Folders Okay Gor Self Defense?

Really folks, carry a gun. If you are actively going to a place where you are actually threatened, then know your legal requirements and carry a firearm. THIS IS 100% TRUE! *EDITED - Inaccurate and inappropriate for our forum* - TazKristi GET A GUN and a CCW. A license to carry weapons does not giv...

Re: Small Folders Okay Gor Self Defense?

I was wondering about the Civilian because it's history says it was developed for use by agents with no training. Any agent has a basic training. I remember that phrase. It would probably mean that it was designed for agents who weren't specially trained in knife hand-to-hand fighting. But believe ...

Re: Small Folders Okay Gor Self Defense?

I'll definitely look into the issuance of CCWs right now. Pepper spray seems like a good option, my concern though is the multiple reports of blowback where the mace ends up disabling the victim rather than the attacker. Between a Yojimbo and a Civilian, which would be a better choice? Is a Yojimbo...

Re: Small Folders Okay Gor Self Defense?

I'll add another reason to convince you to NEVER CARRY A KNIFE FOR SELF DEFENSE even if you have training to do so: the legal side. If you carry a knife and it is used by you or the attacker to cause harm to the other, your lawyer is going to have a hard time (and you other even worse). For the poli...

Re: My 2nd Byrd

I have the rescue version and I couldn't agree more with you. I think that it (favorably) compares to knifes 3x or 4x times its price.

I could say something similar about the Meadowlark and its peers in size.

Re: Do we do people disservice?

I agree. To recommend high-end (even medium) steels to someone who has probably never considered sharpening his knife (but will take it to a store to have it sharpened by a cutting edge killer with a grinder when the knife no longer cuts even butter in the sun) is like recommending a Porsche Cayenne...

Re: Who has the S35VN Tenacious LW? Does it get overlooked and if,WHY?!

I'm delighted you're so happy, Wartstein. Did you buy it at Cuchillería Gómez online ? The Tenacious will not be part of my collection, I'm afraid. It has a blade that is too wide (for my taste). With the same edge length, the blade shape of the Endura is much more "graceful" for my taste. That sha...

Re: About that food prep ...

I just can't imagine eating anything with a knife I cut rubber, rope, cardboard, plastic, come in contact with nasty papermaking residue that comes in contact with who knows what chemicals to at times as well. Even giving one of my knives a cleaning and then using it with food just gives me a funny...

Re: About that food prep ...

Same. I've never made a habit of it, but like others said sometimes a pocket knife is handy for cutting food up for a kid. I've never had anyone care that I cut up food for my kid, but then again where I live you'll sometimes see people OC handguns at dinner so a little folder isn't even going to r...

... It seems to me that Spyderco manufactures wonderful solutions (and I hope that they will keep doing it for the next 200 years), we buy them ... and then we have to desperately search for the problem (for the solution that we just added to our pocket or our collection). ... I hate to bring in the dreaded "Car Analogy", but Spyderco Knives are like Sports Cars.

Who needs a dozen Sports Cars?
Who wants a dozen Sports Cars?

Not me. I prefer a dozen friends who own Sport Cars ... Same fun and no costs ;) :D

Re: We already have the solution. Now what we need is to find the problem

It's like the little pen that some Victorinox carry; it is intended for one-off use and as a substitute for a real ballpoint pen when you are in the middle of nowhere and don't have one available. But if you use it often .... plus, they only come in blue ink. what kind of monsters are these people?...

Re: We already have the solution. Now what we need is to find the problem

I started carrying a flashlight every day specifically because I was tired of draining the battery on my phone all the time. The flashlights on phones eat the battery up pretty quick. Flashlights on phones are meant for people like me, who use them once every six weeks :D For frequent and daily use...
