Re: Anyone else talk crap about how many Mules they were going to buy? And then life caught up...

Time was on my side and I was able to score 3 new mules bcuz they were available. I took off 6 or 8 months from testing and for once inflation had no effect on the price. Plus I am fortunate to have the chance to acquire them in the first place. Right now I need to focus on my hobbies to help cope w...

Re: MT36P – K294 MICROCLEAN Mule Team Dropping Soon!

Never watched forged in fire. Altho most non knife friends always recommend it to me.

In the video I watched Mr Schempp mentioned rope was used back then. Nowadays it's an obstacle course.

Screenshot_20240423_080230_Gallery.jpg No testing today, but here's a few slides on what I do to flatten and condition my waterstones. I use a silicon carbide puck meant for axes. In this particular case it's a 1k waterstone that requires soaking before use. I prefer that over splash and go style s...

Re: MT36P – K294 MICROCLEAN Mule Team Dropping Soon!

Wow that many still available. I kinda wanted to get the spy27 mule next but having to throw out 8 grand for the emergency surgeries my wife needed has halted my knife budget. I sure hope I get to hear honest feedback from actual user experience with this one. Only 65 left now. And i also snagged t...

Screenshot_20240422_114428_Gallery.jpg That rectangle is the set range I use for the 1.5 inch rolls. Testing the buck 110 and the Cinco sage appear to be at the extreme ends of the spectrum. Now the spyderco version of s30v tested 290 on this sage. This buck was able to squeak its way to a score of...

Screenshot_20240422_080113_Gallery.jpg This is the 1k super vit diamond stone I normally use for testing. I was fortunate enough to pick one up when they dropped. This stone has probably sharpened well over 300 knives at this point. I still have no idea how Murray Carter is able to keep a tally of ...

The Cinco sage received a score of 290 today. The highest score I have ever given to s30v was 315.

I happen to have the leafjumper in my pocket while I was cut testing the Cinco sage. I'm a big fan of the LJ.

Re: A new spin on "HIC dropping soon"

I remember having private discussions with Roman aka kknivesswitzerland when he was finally allowed to mention about it years ago. We never discussed the research team that was assembled to get to this material made. We talked about future applications of where this material would excel long before ...

Screenshot_20240421_072023_Gallery.jpg The next 3 knives is sort of a 3 way competition with s30v. I have tested all these knives in the past. The sage 5 is one of my more recent acquisitions of s30v from spyderco. And it's cutting edge is at the very bottom size range for the 1.5 inch rolls. I pre...

Screenshot_20240420_185511_Gallery.jpg The knife is the corto from kizer I bought years ago. At the time kizer was pumping out s35vn at affordable prices. I haven't been in tune with kizer the last several years but they are still using s35vn as far as I know. There is a possibility they have impro...

Re: A new spin on "HIC dropping soon"

I think spyderco has already made up their minds about this material but I could be entirely wrong. I do plan on scoring 1 and providing whatever feedback I can provide. I get the benefit of getting a 2nd chance of picking 1 up. First time I've ever seen that on a mule team. If the right appreciati...

Screenshot_20240419_092932_Chrome.jpg I have to correct myself bcuz I mentioned toughness for s35vn at a ranking of 4 but it's actually a 5. The test edge was put on by a pride abrasive 1k stone. In order for me to replicate a sharpmaker user maintaining serrations I use ceramics over diamond. I ad...

Screenshot_20240418_175822_Gallery.jpg I got to wait til the morning for the alotted 24 hours for my ice block. According to Dr Larrins chart rankings s35vn is a 4. Bd1n was listed at 3.5 and did not pass the 60% mark at the 40-20 rate. If I'm not mistaken some if not all of the s35vn serrations fr...

My go to is a rectangular version found in hardware stores for spackling but use whats available. And i use a different level system depending on what im trying to do. Barkeepers friend or a...
