The final number is 300 for the LJ.

When I evaluated the edge, I used the area closer to the tip. As the heel area becomes gradually more blunt, the tip area has to assume more workload. I chose a test media I feel like highlights advantages for serrations ...

Im taking my time with testing this edge on the leafjumper. So far 180 units of work, and the vg10 is still passing. I forecast failure around 260/270.

Re: Let's talk Mule Team quantities

I appreciate the opportunity to purchase these test mules, and have my input heard. Explaining to us the VOP- voice of the process is uncommon in many industries. The transparency, integrity, and the courage to pave new trails are what make spyderco 1 of a kind.

I did a quick sharpening video on my serrated LJ vg10 a few days ago. Im occupied with another project so it will be some time b4 this gets cut tested.

In terms of sharpening, I use a fine india 400 to start. I use 3 different angled strokes to make sure ...

Finished up testing this morning. The k390 cut alot, the plain edge i believe did only 44- this is a 922.7% increase over that.

After 3 trial tests im satisfied with this approach for teeth testing. I believe the testing we have always seen caters to plain ...

The serrated k390 has surpassed vg 10 in my testing. At 260 it is still passing with flying colors.

Im testing serrated k390 today. The model is a police 4 which reaches the next tier of my testing based on cutting edge length. To create an even playing field, I attached a medium binder clip to reduce edge length. Comparison picture against the leaf jumper ...

Re: Steeltoez83 testing log

I can only test finished products with a standardized test. Variation within the way serrations are produced are beyond my control. With several samples tested i think I am representing a fuller picture.

Here are the options I have available to put thru testing in terms of serrations. H1, 8cr, vg10, and k390. H1 is now H2, however if Sal wants me to test H1 I can most certainly do that. The police will need to be binder clipped to stand on equal footing with ...

Re: Steeltoez83 testing log

One of the hardest things on cutting utensils I have had to cut is this Kevlar woven roven that you glass in areas.
I was using it in the Transom of boats to better buildup the area where the engine is bolted to the boat. That stuff is really thick and hard to cut.

Funny thing is the first ...

Re: Steeltoez83 testing log

The serrated vg10 leaf jumper showcased a 30% increase in edge retention today reaching a score of 252.

When I do my sanding roll cutting tests, I envision a warehouse environment with the vast majority of edge wear from corrugated waste products. This newer testing seems to make serrations shine ...

I have previously done testing on a 15V pm2 along with a crucarta pm2. The lightweight manix was available and I decided to take a different approach because these steels were already tested in fact multiple times just not all listed here. 15V has better wear resistance over cruwear- nobody here is ...
