Re: Blade HQ copper rex45 pm2
What a hoot! I hear you on the copper smell. I try to wear gloves when prepping copper water pipe for soldering because the copper and the flux both lead to smelly hands. The main reasons I don’t carry metal handled knives are weight and the need for traction. Knurled titanium could overcome both o...

Re: I do not like LC200N *rant*
The pitting on my chef knife says otherwise. Can you supply some pics? To clarify it is a MAC Pro, not a SpydieChef, if that’s what you were thinking. That’s what I was thinking. So, in a rant against LC200N, you’re complaining about pitting in a knife in another steel, even though no one here has ...

Re: A Spyderco OTF?
It would be expensive, and illegal to carry in most places, not to talk about the sheeple reaction when you take out your OTF,so the market will be very small.Collectible-sure. I don't think "most places" are illegal, just a few states. I think it's a common misconception. https://www.akti....

The card in the box says sprint runs cannot be repeated. They could always make one in M4 or K390 though.

Re: I do not like LC200N *rant*
I mean there are so many cheaper and even better stainless steels. LC200N is very cheap. See below: LC200N - $9.73/in³ S30V - $11.23/in³ M4 - $12.08/in³ S90V - $14.51/in³ Elmax - $14.70/in³ 20CV - $15.30/in³ Maxamet - $21.16/in³ M390 - $26.44/in³ Vanax - $36.30/in³ Corrosion resistance is the last ...

Re: PRICING
I think its important to understand collectors are their own bubble, while that bubble may be growing your average Joe still sees a $50 knife as a relatively expensive one. The higher end knives won't suffer as much from this, because $150 isn't really that much more comparatively expensive when it...

I've been wanting one of those 4V PM2s for a while. I wish they'd make more than 20 and maybe let us know what time they will go up for sale.

Re: Performance Rankings: Knife Steels
Really its all good. Makes sense the most balanced steels might come out on top. But I wont call them better. Inherently better? No. But better suited to a certain task? Yes. That's one reason so many different steels exist. I get the impression Trinity300 is a burgeoning steel junkie / knife knut ...

Re: Kapara LC200N
Found it. We're thinking about it. It's quite expensive, a lot more than Maximet. We'll be doing more tests soon, CATRA, etc. sal Yep. 72% more expensive if those distributor prices are anything to go by, but fortunately the steel cost itself does not swing the overall knife price very much.

Re: Performance Rankings: Knife Steels
You can get the data sheet off the manufacturers website. That's the primary source for the information. You just go to the actual maker of the steel. Examples: http://www.crucible.com/PDFs/DataSheets2010/ds10Vv1%202010.pdf http://www.crucible.com/PDFs/DataSheets2010/ds45rev12010.pdf https://www.ud...

Re: Performance Rankings: Knife Steels
If a manufacturer lists KV/Ku (J), is that indicative of the finished product or is it measured before it has been heat treated like Brinell hardness? Perhaps if you linked to the datasheet you are trying to interpret someone could help you better. Is this any good? That data is not for H1 steel. I...

Re: Performance Rankings: Knife Steels
I enjoy Larrin's scientific approach much more than compilations of hearsay, random suppositions and second hand data poorly strung together. Weird thread. Is the guy a troll? Weird to group 440c, 420hc, and then D2 together as "poor." Earlier he had ZDP-189 with H1 as "poor." I...

Re: Kapara LC200N
Vanax would be a great option too. Might be a little pricier, but I'd pay about $40 more for it. A little? If theoretically that ever happens it would be more than $140 higher, perhaps around $350... I do hope for LC200N version too, but guess that SPY27 will come sooner. Unless it is way harder to...

Added Vanax. Will work on adding some quantitative toughness (ft-lbs) ratings next.
