Re: Magnetic blade??
Is it martensitic steel or austenitic steel?
https://www.thyssenkrupp-materials.co.u ... l-magnetic
I've noticed I can put blades near each other and sometimes they're attracted to each other.
Me, I'm generally attracted to PM 2's.

Re: Good second Spyderco
Welcome to the Forums, Joel. Do you have any experience in any of the following fields? Spyderco has what they call their OpFocus Program where they give a very hefty discount to: Active Duty Military Reservist / National Guard Military Veteran / Retiree Law Enforcement Officer Paramedic / Fire Resc...

Re: 2024 OpFocus Seconds Sale?
I'll be busy the second weekend in May, so I'm hoping they don't schedule it for then. But it certainly won't be the end of the world.

Re: Crucarta, what's going on?
Well here's an outlier in the data. I own two CruCarta PM2's and they're both smooth opening and closing, and have been for years since they were released. It could be due to living at the same altitude/temp/humidity as Spyderco. I don't know where the OP lives but it might make a difference. I will...

Re: 2024 OpFocus Seconds Sale?
As I recall, within the past few years, the OpFocus sale actually floated into June once. It was due to Spyderco taking their wares out to other knife/outdoor/military/first responder shows in May.

Hackers phishing for info. I delete them every day without opening. If you do not know the sender do not open the SMS or email, mark as spam and delete. If it seems like you know who it is, a company or human, do not click on any links. Read the message, and if it seems fishy, delete it, do not res...

Re: Where Artificial Intelligence Is Right Now
I’d like to pose a question to you folks on a message from a company I received. I really wonder if it was a canned AI response. I received an email last year from a well known company about my account. I don’t have an account with this company. They must be aware of bogus accounts being set up usin...

Re: Serial # stamp/laser engraving on tang of Manix??
Yes, I’ve seen that on my Spyderco tangs, too. I have an unscientific theory that the blades were made in September of 2023 on the first, (A,) and second (B) shift. Manufacturers (not speaking for Spyderco) will use codes or markers in their products to document when it was made. If there’s a defect...

Re: How do you close your Manix 2?
I've got a bunch of Manix knives. Closing all varieties of them is very easy. Just a quick pinch, pull back and shake down into the closed position.....same as with an axis lock except more pinching force required to overcome the CBBL spring vs an axis lock spring. I’m with ManixFan: Pinch, pull, s...

Re: The Magnacut Paramilitary 2
I help my friend on his crab boat in the summer time. Maybe I need to consider getting this one. What kind if edge retention does magnacut have? Am I gonna have to resharpen it after a day on the boat every time? I think it's safe to say it all depends on what you're cutting. The chart below is fro...

Re: Good knife friendly, reasonably priced cutting board
Do you live near a Ross clothing store? The ones I've been in have a kitchenware aisle with all kinds and sizes of cutting boards. They're all discounted, too. Some have pretty exotic looking wood with wild looking grain. I'm considered buying some and cutting them up for Mule Team scales. Edit: I j...

Re: What is your favorite Delica variant?
It’s tough to pick one, so I’d say these two. Corrosion resistance isn’t a priority for me so they’re both easy to care for. The Super Blue/SUS410 cuts like a razor and sharpens easily. The K390 is easy to sharpen scary sharp plus it has more toughness and edge holding capabilities.

Re: Looking For Tips to Darken Micarta with Oil only
Here are a few Spyderco’s with Micarta scales and one from brand-x. I oiled the PM2 at the bottom using mineral oil and it lightened back up to its natural tint; no real aging going on. The dark marks were there when I bought it. The other side looks like it was rubbed with white chalk. The second P...

Re: Credit Card Fraud!
Or do this. This account doesn’t exist, no charges will go through. And, I’ll be notified within seconds that a charge was attempted and declined. Problem solved. What app is that and what cards does it work with? Is it Capital One? Yes, but I have to think in 2024 other cc companies have this, too.
