Re: Look What Rolled In

Being so easily influenced into something like that is a dangerous thing...to call someone you just met in a parking lot, "your leader"...I dunno. Well, he wasn't my leader. He was just the person who stepped up and led the group. I'm sure the looters have 'leaders', although I'll bet they keep a p...

Look What Rolled In

I went to Costco tonight. They closed early, dangit, so I drove to the Target across the street. This was in Santee, CA. I parked, got out, started chatting with the 'protectors' blocking the entrance to the store. I actually shook hands with someone! I miss that. There were 15-20 people there, most...

Re: Tanto PM2 Support Thread

How will we know when the PM2 Tanto is available?

I don't see it listed at BHQ, so I can't sign up for a text alert.

I don't see it listed in the Reveal.

I will monitor this thread (I had to post to subscribe to it.)

Assuming this won't be a standard catalog item, will it just quietly appear?

Re: Polishing a stonewashed blade.

I can probably post a few pics, if anyone is interested. Pls do, I was inclined to do it but I was hesitant as I don't know how good the steel polishes or how hard it is to do. I have some 6 micron and 1.5 micron diamond compound available and a dremel so I might just do it if I like the look. Than...

I've polished knife blades before and S30V is what made me stop...In fact after my 'work' on the knife, I considered it to look hideous. I think I gifted the knife.

Hmmmm, maybe I should just leave well enough alone....

Are you speaking of taking a satin finish to polish?

Yes, that is exactly what I would like to do.

My Shaman is S30V.

Polishing a stonewashed blade.

How feasible would it be to polish a stonewashed blade?

Or to removed the brush marks on a polished blade?

How much work would it take to do it by hand?

I would protect the engravings with masking tape.

if you have any bottles of wine, the corks work well for removing burrs.

Will one of those new fangled artificial corks work, or does it have to be real cork?

Has anyone used anything made by HORUSDY?:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YH ... 5IPU&psc=1

They appear to be Australia based & their tools get some good reviews.

Bloke or Cambertree? Any experience with HORUSDY?

Hi Chris, if you’re referring to the pattern on the blade’s primary bevel, it’s called chatter, caused by vibration in the process of machining. Most likely an out of balance grinding wheel I’d reckon. :)

Thanks, Bloke. I learned something new!

Hi, all- I installed my Jade G10 scales from Sharp Dressed Knives tonight. 0527202332a.jpg 0527202332.jpg 0527202252b.jpg 0527202252a.jpg As soon as I saw a photo of Jade scales, I knew I had to have a set. The fitment is perfect and note there is only one set of clip mounting holes, which is fine i...

Re: Best Torx Screwdriver Recommendation?

Not my pic but I received one of these for Christmas in the mid 70's. It's served me well ever since. My older brother broke his a long time ago. I'm sure he's severely jealous of me now haha https://i.imgur.com/x9BSvoXl.jpg SCREWBALL! I'm sure he is jealous. I've mourned the loss of my Screwball s...

Shaman Set Up

Hi, all- My Shaman S30V arrived yesterday. What a great knife, the size & weight is PERFECT. Beautiful. I'm trying to fall in love with the stone washed blade, but it hasn't happened yet. Are there standard procedures to follow for a new knife? The action on my Shaman is very stiff: when I release t...

I think this is the only solution. Telling dealers they have to buy more would cause far too many issues.

I think we need to go on the offensive against flippers. We should taking turns "buying" their knives but not paying for them.

It would require dummy eBay accounts, though...

Re: Best Steel For Small Hand Saws? Toughness or Wear Resistance?

https://youtu.be/pFJanQSaRyU I like this axe, it is made out of a simple carbon steel and works good. How the heck did he split that log so quickly? Is it the axe or the technique? I love splitting eucalyptus. Once it's dry it's hard as a rock, but develops nice splits that will accept a Wood Grena...
