Question about some of the materials on the Kapara (and other Taichungs)

I was looking at the Kapara and Subvert recently and was wondering if those Taichung fancy pivots are Ti or not. It’s got a matching finish to the Ti liners on the subvert, and said finish is consistent with other Spydie Ti. Even on the Kapara which has all silver tone hardware and liners it’s got t...

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement

Hi guys, Sorry to rain on our parade, but I was just informed that the thin Delica cannot be ground in K390, so we're going to have to settle for VG-10. Which is probably OK for a better comparison with a standard Delica. :o sal I’m okay with this personally. Vg10 will be easy to maintain and relat...

Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?

It’s been brought up a few times before and I’m always for it. I definitely think a tool steel like cruwear as you said would work to really push that blade design.

Re: Lil Native Tanto?

I'm saying yes not because I would use it, not because I think it would sell well, but because I think it would be hilarious to see such an aggressive stabby shape on such a cute little knife. Currently the Pochi (and I would say the matriarch 2 but that does have actual use) is the only slightly co...

Re: Spyderco UTILITY Knife...

I’d be for it if spyderco made the blades that went in it as well, even if they’re in just a basic carbon steel. I’ve used some reeeeallly shoddy utility blades.

It's no official thread run and controlled by :spyder: staff.
I constantly forget this, RamZar does such incredible work here. I hope they get the recognition they deserve from the spydie staff, RamZar makes me buy knives much faster :p

Re: I'm having an issue with US made Spydies

Just checked my new(ish) native lw, no loctite on any of the screws but they’re properly fitted. I think the only spydies I’ve owned that have had loctite have been taichungs actually, mostly the lightest stuff and most of it falls behind the liners. A pain to clean out but no damage to the knife it...

How do they cut? I love the design but it seems a bit chunky for me.
Cut great imo. Heavy duty, but still a slicer. Perfect size too!
I may have to add one to the collection once more steel options come around, just one though :D

Re: Lubricating knives with no liners and/or no washers

I usually find it only makes the action worse to add oil. At least that’s the case with the 4ish frn natives and the one seki salt I’ve used 10 weight nano oil on.

I’m sure different oil formulas interact much differently with frn than others though so who knows. Sounds like work for larrin :D

Re: Do we do people disservice?

It depends. If they know me well enough then they know I’d be happy to sharpen their knives for them. But in most cases (at least in my experience) non knife people are most worried about stainlesses and fine edge holding, so spy-27 and lc200n would be my two top picks. Anything fancier will be eith...

Re: My favorite handle design

Couldn’t agree more, it’s one of the reasons I love my waterway so much, those light chamfers make it. Although I prefer mild contouring more, so you can hold the knife sideways comfortably. Really hoping I’ll be able to get my hands on that kapara sprint, I haven’t had a folder with contoured scale...

Re: Are we going to see a REX45 UKPK???

I’m hopeful it’ll end up in a permanent model like k390 and m4 did.

Although just making it a permanent offer for all golden models wouldn’t be the worst thing :D

Re: Native M390 - choose yours

Voted G10 as there aren’t NEARLY enough g10 native variants. Although tbh the teal frn s90v native sorta fills the “super performance on a budget” thing already, not sure it could be dethroned. That's just it for me. It's not that I don't like M390... It just doesn't bring anything to the table (fo...
