Re: CANIS.
Very cool. Handled it at the SFO. I had to make myself do it because it has zero eye appeal to me. (Having enough prior experiences I know my eyes can get it wrong). Was totally impressed with the knife and it is now on my shortlist. Had to try an inexpensive Wharncliffe first to see if I'm ok with ...

Re: CANIS.
Actually, it’s a private account that I temporarily de-privatized for this share. No big deal for me either. quote="Sharp Guy" post_id=1496384 time=1613762744 user_id=26711] Argh, no IG account for me so I cannot view your pictures. Yeah I don't really like when people start a thread with ...

CANIS.
So well-named...
This knife makes me realize that evolving in your knife tastes could mean recognizing that a production folder is better than your expensive customs.

Re: Rare 1990 BLACK SEAL.
I found an old post on Bladeforums where Sal mentioned that there was a distributor in California that commissioned all black Police models for the Seals. all black police model I also found this expired auction on worthpoint that shows an all black Police model with a Seal trident. Warning, the pi...

Re: Rare 1990 BLACK SEAL.
Perhaps it's my eyes, they've seen better days, or the fact that markings can be hard to see on a black knife, but I can't see any SEAL marking on that Police. TiNi coatings were done experimentally by Spyderco from fairly early on but the problem is, they were also done aftermarket by distributors...

Re: Rare 1990 BLACK SEAL.
I do again appreciate the discourse. It does have patent markings & numbers (2 rows) along the flat portion of the clip. Lance Clinton indicated in the comments on my IG post that if the notch is uncoated/stainless (as is seen in the second photo), then the notch was made at Spyderco after the ...

Re: Rare 1990 BLACK SEAL.
Appreciate that... Unless they were scored into the steel, Police or Navy Seal markings would be covered. Same with Spydie logo. It was sold that none of the 3 were evident. Box is plain except for the sticker. Unless someone knows for certain otherwise , I’ll give the knife the benefit of the doub...

Re: Rare 1990 BLACK SEAL.
Is that a seconds notch on the blade? Maybe one that didn't pass QC but was given new purpose in life. Great question. Possibly, but it’s fully coated. I’d have to ask Sal or Viintage experts if they were doing that practice back in 89/90. My bad - I was looking at my pic rather than the knife. The...

Rare 1990 BLACK SEAL.
My rare All-Black (Navy) Seal Spydie in G-2 from 1990 has landed... (The sickest Spyderco I’ve ever owned.) Took 5 weeks from a seller in Japan who deals in rare/vintage Spydies. Before Murdered-out was a thing. 4-in blade. Dwarfs my Meerkat, also pictured. SekiCity Police DNA (the all-black matte f...

Vintage Hummingbird in Stag Horn...
Just snagged this Spyderco Hummingbird time-capsule example from 1990.
LOVE the stag horn scales and the fact that it’s a lockback and not a slipjoint for its diminutive size.

The anodized aluminum on this Native5 is stunningly detailed in colors and micro scales.
Wish my Dad was around to give him this.
