Re: How do YOU define "beater knife"?

A knife I am willing to use as a screwdriver.

My beaters
PM2 wave with a scandi grind
Stretch 2
Leathermans- started with 6 now down to 2
Couple of $50 knives
$300 5/16 thick 5" sleipner custom fixed blade in my center console

Re: Favorite EDC steel

S30VN, S35VN, D2 and 14C28N I have been more into design than steel the last few years. No longer do physical work everyday, hence getting a knife to last a week between sharpenings is much easier. Flip side is my hands are getting worse and I am much more sensitive to bad ergonomics.

Re: Prices OMG Seriously?

So this drop we finally get the budget PM2 and see the limit of what people will pay for super steel. Both are very nitch items from my perspective.

People can argue over cost but the industry is setting the minimum standard much higher. You can get a deep carry pocket clip on a Buck 110, T8 ...

I would love a stretch in anything but another straight spline.

Bought one when they first dropped. Absolutely love the size and how adjustable the light is. Clips to a hat, last days camping and has taken a few dunks into water.

Re: Just purchased a rare Matriarch

My Matriarch 2 never got much pocket time. I really regret not picking up an original for a long time and eventually settled on a newer one. I like really like recurves and hawkbills at the time so it was a logical step in my collection. Just didn't work well with my cutting tasks but made me fall ...

Biggest issue is the sharpmaker not having enough diamonds options.

Re: Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Holidays Sale!

I think it's fair that the boxes have more value as they are a random product. Also the limit of 1 per person is a huge bonus as it guarantees more people get to participate. Ebay has individual sellers flipping 20+ 2nds knives, that is a bigger issue.

Re: Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Holidays Sale!

I am pretty ecstatic about my box, the mix of knives shows someone definitely put the effort into giving some variety.

CruCarta Military 2 has a grind mark near the thumb ramp
Serrated H1 Pacific Salt 2 very light blade scratches

I would like to see MAP change to a tier system, once something hits a certain age a dealer can mark it down. I feel like some dealers are punished for buying less popular models.

I have a flat grind Genesis that I bought because it was 3V. Got it 4-5 years ago when I was going steel crazy. No real regrets other than it wasn't the perfect handle color, but back then you just got lucky to find one.

Good steel, really nice micarta and no thrills.

Re: Shelter Cove and 8CR17MOV

Does anyone here use fillet knives outside of a fish processing capacity? I am wondering if they can work well for other food tasks perhaps? I have never had a proper fillet knife and it would be pretty niche for me, so I am curious how versatile they may be able to be or not.

They are really ...
