Re: Magnacut rust from pocket carry
Curious if Magnacut Salt knives will have lower hardness than non-Salt Spyderco Magnacut knives?

ARK and La Griffe
Thought folks here would find this interesting. I have (several) ARKs and recently got a Fred Perrin Ti La Griffe by Max Knives. With Perrin and the relationship to Spyerco, including several products designed by him, I was not surprised that the finger-choil on the ARK and the finger-hole on the La...

Re: Best Spyderco for Backpacking
These threads are always fun. My $0.02, should something go awry, carry at least what YOU need to re-hydrate and get 8-hours sleep regardless of backpacking or day hiking — if you can do those two things you generally got it made. So in the case of this thread, will my knife do what I need it to do ...

Adding a twist to the serrated vs plain edge question as speed matters too, not just the quality of a feather stick :cowboy Is serrated quicker than plain edge? https://masterwoodsman.com/2014/speed-matters/ Very nice read, thanks! As you are also the author, you are actually quite a "pro"...

This happens with stone too. Unmodified flakes at the time they are knapped are at their sharpest (period). Easy to recognize if you are flint knapper and I can personally attest to this phenomena Whaaaat? Do you make stone tools? WAY cool! If you wouldn't mind posting a few pics, I'm sure we'd all...

Re: EDC Neck Knife: ARK, Subway, or Swick?
That's a good idea with the chain through the cord. I like being able to adjust the length as needed, depending on what I'm doing, so I use gutted 550 cord with slip knots. https://i.imgur.com/KVzkbSG.jpg What is under the band? I do a similar set up with an adjustable double fisherman’s knot https...

Re: EDC Neck Knife: ARK, Subway, or Swick?
Very much like the ARK at 2.1 oz (with sheath) as it disappears. Also the sheath being wide it stays flat. Believe I picked this up from Rob Simonich (RIP) over 2+ decades ago for neck carry comfort and safety. Remove all but one strand of 550-cord using that last strand to pull through a breakaway ...

No more plain edge Ladybug Salt, serrated only; and the H2 ARK is continuing in PE only. Glad to see about the ARK as really started giving it a second chance and appreciate what 0.9 oz can do

Re: Enuff XL
I held the Enuff Xl (or Enuff 2) this Friday at Blade and look forward to it’s release — the handle is at least slightly longer than the Enuff and felt considerably better to me with a forward grip than the Enuff which I do own and my hand is too wide. Should be a much better all around utilitarian ...

Re: spyderco signal mirror
If that’s all you’ve got, absolutely use it. However, it will not come close to a plate glass signal mirror with an actual sighting system. Metal or even plastic-made signal mirrors don’t have the resolution of plate glass; also, both metal and plastic lose their luster. If you are going to be in th...

Re: H-2 vs. H-1
Even if edge retention is slightly ‘different’ will still go with Spyderco and H2 for the corrosion resistance and toughness. Assuming corrosion improvement here is primarily from a chemical attack perspective? Hope it is still G. Sakai still making these considering their high quality and long hist...

Bumping this thread with the H2 news today. Tough as H1 and more corrosion resistant (if that’s possible).

Why carry a knife?
I used to write a fair amount including in an outdoor blog I started back in 2012. The last couple years I had quit writing for a host of reasons. Perhaps it is the subject I chose as I have been more frustrated than usual with ‘society’ these days; nonetheless, I started again and have several arti...

Re: How about a H1 Spyderco version of a milspec-style clearance knife
Not sure if the Enuff XL in H1 would work well for CQB as not my thing, but love the simplicity and toughness of H1 and anxiously awaiting this knife (I know, not in the Reveal) . Picture is in 6th post of this thread… https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=89891&hilit=Enuff+xl Would...

Re: Mini-Spydercos - Perfect Application
Ladybug is always a great back-up blade at 0.6 oz. I don’t do survival (Altoids) tins but many that do appreciate that a Ladybug will fit in such a small space.
