Re: Shaman sprints in stainless?

Hey Abyss, For what it’s worth, I live in Georgia where you can almost count the days on your hand when the humidity is under 50%. 90%+ almost feels like the norm most of the year, and I daily carry Cruwear, Hap40 & 52100 (which i believe is the most rust prone steel in Spyderco lineup). The Cruwear...

Re: Strongest EDC Steel?

I’d vote Cruwear.
It’s very strong, tough, holds an edge well, decent corrosion resistance and super easy to sharpen.
It’s just a really well balanced steel.

Hi SubMicron, Great story about your "Study" and growth in the "Edge". The Ghost we're all trying to grock. Thanx for sharing. Hey Tom, Our findings do not agree with your findings. I guess we can agree top disagree? sal Sounds good to me Sal. Like Shawn said, there's just too many variables at pla...

Re: New reveal...Zwear/micarta Shaman, s90v Native Chief, k390 Seki series, Slysz Swayback! So much to love.

I’m definitely getting the K390 Delica, that’s top of the list for me. I’ll try to get the Zwear Shaman (my first Shaman), hopefully they made plenty to go around. If not, I’ll try to grab a Rex45 version. Other than that, I’ll be getting the Tanto pm2 & Native 5 Salt LC200n Serrated. Those will be ...

Re: I Tested the Edge Retention of 48 Steels

This is awesome! Thank you Larrin & Shawn (and of course Larrin’s wife!). That S90v really put on show! I’ve long thought S90v was hot sh*t, I just didn’t realize how hot. Same for ZDP-189. I think the biggest surprise to me was how well S30v did. I’m not a fan of it(I just don’t like the way it sha...

Re: Crazy idea: Tanto Delica

I personally don’t care for tangos, and I’ve had a few; Emerson, Cold Steel, and Benchmade Stryker. To sharpen and maintain that crisp transition, you have to treat the two edges as separate. The primary edge is taken care of first (or second, depending on one’s preference), and then the secondary ...

Re: Crazy idea: Tanto Delica

I love tantos... I’d love for you to explain why. You asked me the same question in the shot show 2020 thread. Here was my response: “ I carried a tanto for almost 10 years and I never found it underperforming. From military service to plain old hard blue collar work, my tanto never left me longing...

Any word on the Rex45 shaman?

I’ve never had a Shaman before, figured I’d try the Rex45 Shaman. Hopefully it won’t sell out in 2 minutes.
Any word on when it might be released?

Re: Crazy idea: Tanto Delica

I love tantos but Delica wouldn’t be my first choice for one I don’t think.
I mean... I’d probably buy it :D but I’d rather see it on something with a thicker/longer blade.

Re: 2020 hopes and dreams

I’d like to see Spyderco put out some more sharpening rod options: •Higher grit CBN rods for the Sharpmaker. An 800grit rod would be awesome. I know a lot of folks want low grit stones as well as higher. Would be nice to see 3-4 different grit CBN rods. •High grit stone options for the new Galley th...

Re: Help- 12° blade options with the sharpmaker?

Awesome, thank you guys!
There’s so many cool Japanese chef knives I’ve avoided over the years due to having 9-12 degree bevels. This opens up so many new options.

Cheers!

Re: Help- 12° blade options with the sharpmaker?

Thank you guys, seems I have more options than I thought! I’m not hung up on keeping it 12deg, so I can just sharpen it at 15deg and essentially create a microbevel yes? If I only ever sharpen it at 15deg, will it eventually just become a 15deg edge? @sok-monki I know what reprofiling a blade to a s...

Help- 12° blade options with the sharpmaker?

I’m looking at a kitchen knife that has a 12° blade. All the knives in my house are 30° or 40°, all sharpened on Sharpmakers, and I have a dedicated Sharpmaker in the kitchen for culinary knives. I don’t want to go buy an entirely new sharpening system for one knife. What are my options? Is there a ...
