Re: White Handle
Hi Daddyflea, Welcome to our forum. We generally use set colors for certain steels to distinguish them by the steel. We haven't done many with white handles. We did a NASA display model years ago with a white handle for an artist. We currently have an Ivory handle on the straight spine stretch, whi...

White Handle
Curious why all the Spyderco blades have a set color. If I can I always buy a new Knife with a Slick white handle. This makes the blood easy to wash off and the knife easy to see if its dropped.

Recently bought a Spyderco in CPMS110V and I want a Custom knife in something that will really hold an edge butchering Hogs. I was not really all that impressed with the CPMS110V so I may get my custom in Elmax, Is this wise? I see almost no Fixed Blade Knives in Elmax.

Re: Very Sharp
For that type of a cutting job a Spyderco "Southfork" with S90V would be great if you could still find one. But mainly find one with the type of design that would work well with your style of cutting. You really can't go wrong with any of Spyderco's fixed blades. Heck an old TEMPERANCE 1 ...

Re: Very Sharp
Mind if I ask why you use only one knife for the entire butchering process? I’ve always used 2 knives- A smaller blade for the early stages/gutting and then a larger more food oriented/culinary style knife for meat removal. If I did it more often(and did skinning), I’d break it into 3 knifes- a sma...

Re: Very Sharp
Update I should get a Spydercon Folder today with CPM110V steel so I will try it and see if it holds an edge better than my Custom D2 knife. Last Friday night I gutted 14 hogs and my D2 gave out at 12, I only takes about 5 minutes to bring it back at home but late at night covered in blood, knife s...

Re: Very Sharp
I have a custom knife in D2 and another in CPM35vn that I can easily get to shave hair. They will last around 4-5 hogs apiece before they get too dull to use, so I would say pretty good. Both return sharp pretty quickly but I know neither is the best.
