Re: What’s your best made Spydie?

I have some very well made options to choose, but the Vallotton is the winner.

Every curve, line and material interface is exceptional.

The contours, finishes and mechanics are exact.

It’s amazing how much of a value this was just a couple of years ago.

Re: Techno 2 - did I catch a lemon

It sounds like you are saying that the detent is weaker than you prefer. Is the detent ball sinking deep enough into the hole of the blade when closed? If the tension to lock the knife is sufficient, but the blade opens too easily, then it might be time to look at the how deep the ball sits in the b...

Re: Change my mind: the Shaman costs too much

The Shaman math does not add up. And that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There is nuance involved in setting prices, and it’s not as easy as summing costs and putting the price tag on the box. I believe that Sal created something that pushed demand much higher than anticipated. I’m not sure Spyderco...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

My large and small inkosi slipped a bit in and out of cuts. It drove me nuts. The blade shape is very nice from a visual perspective, but it just doesn’t cut well in my opinion. I kept the small because I do appreciate the build quality and machine tolerances that you get in a CRK. I sharpened out t...

Soaking the clip in acetone will remove the paint and leave this behind.

Re: Street Beat Sprint - Let's Get Serious!

A premium Natural micarta, hap40 or cruwear option with a leather sheath under $200 would be terrific in my opinion.

lc200n/frn with plain and fully serrated options would be really cool too.

What the ****, just produce the frn/lc200n as the next gen after a sprint run of the first.

Re: Your ideas for the future of the seconds sale?

I think as Spyderco is elevating their brand, and their pricing, a “seconds sale” is a bit odd. I don’t fully understand why Spyderco puts all these flawed products out in the world. On one hand, they sell (quite well) their great customer service, but then they fire sale a bunch of reject knives wi...

Ok! Got a Ronin 2 amongst other things at the seconds sale...who has a lead on a sheath?
Sheathpro may be the supplier for the ronin 2 and others.

They are run by a member of Sal’s family if I’m not mistaken.

Re: Apparently - Cold Steel Has Been Bought

The company most likely will exist in name, but the products may no longer be what we once knew. And "that" Sir is what scares me. I'm very doubtful if their super high quality Gurkha Kukri models will maintain their sterling reputation. I have 3 of the Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri models ( al...

Re: Apparently - Cold Steel Has Been Bought

From what I see, the buyer is owned by a private equity shop so we should expect the standard creating of efficiencies, squeezing all the value out and then selling parts/pieces later. Selling was probably LT’s only choice to get his equity out, so I don’t fault him for choosing this route as his su...

Josh modifies them to fit the knife.

The screw pattern isn't 100% perfect, it's made for a PM2 and then modified to the curve of the Swayback.

It works, you just have to slowly screw it on, alternating between screws until it seats. Once it's on, it's rock solid.
This is good info. Thank you

Edit: Dang XHP is not very stainless. I'm going to have to put a desiccant packet in with it. Do you live by the ocean? Never had an issue with any staining on XHP Nope, the mountains of Georgia. I had it put up in the pouch for the past few months and when I took it out, the edge had quite a few o...

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

Decided to get it out and give it another whirl. I tried what Nemo said and was pleasantly surprised. Just moving my index finger onto the pivot, made it open much nicer. Still wish it was a bit smaller. But, it may actually see some use now. Edit: Dang XHP is not very stainless. I'm going to have ...

Re: Can we (civilly) discuss fixed blade prices?

I would imagine a significant contribution to retail cost is the lack of economies of scale for Spyderco’s FB market compared to their folder market. If Spyderco produced fixed blades in the large runs like folders I suspect the costs could be reduced. Obviously the zoomer or the proficient are very...

Re: I need some pen suggestions

The Urban Survival Gear TiScribe bolt is an option that can handle a variety of refills. I use g2 size refills and parker style ones in mine. Bigidesign makes some useful pens that can accommodate hundreds of types of refills. The tactile turn and karas kustoms pens are nice but a bit clunky imo. La...

Re: 2 brand new Native 5 LW problems

My spy27 just arrived from DLT this afternoon. It's basically perfect. I like the stonewashed clip...reminiscent of the Shaman.

Spy 27 finishes really nicely. If it sharpens better than s30v I'd call it a winner in my book.

I don't have this model, but have been looking at it. While I'd love LC200N, I can't help but wonder how it would do as a wharnie. That's what I was thinking as well. I can only imagine it would be even more effective in its current role with a wharncliffe blade shape. The new swick is your solutio...

Re: 2 brand new Native 5 LW problems

I’ve had a few lightweight natives (2 salts, rex45 and maxamet) with the ricasso bumping the handle scale right out of the box. I haven’t experienced any loose parts on one yet. I suppose it can be debated whether these are deal breakers. I decided a while ago to just deal with fit/finish anomalies ...

Re: DLT Cruwear purple Para3

On DLT's instagram there are "buyers" gloating that they were able to purchase and will be flipping both knives for x2 the price. They'll list them for that, but then most will sit at ebay for months until some fool finally pays a stupid price. This is getting the twitter “manipulated med...
