Re: Spyderco Knock-offs, "Replicas"and Fakes

I was randomly searching for another Spydies on my local buy & sell app after getting a legit Manix 2 XL yesterday (yay :p :spyder: ). Today I came across this comedic fake... *( this post is for comedy purpose only ) *(I didn't purchase said fake ofc. $9.46 for one I better off saving up for R...

Re: Spyderco warranty question

I did not get it because I just figured Spyderco would charge me for the repair, and the whole transaction would cost the same as a new one. To buy a damaged second-hand knife with the intention of having the manufacturer repair it for you for free is pretty skeevy. Perhaps you should pose this que...

Re: Spyderco warranty question

Was this U-shaped missing bit of metal right at the ricasso? Might have been an intentional mod to add a sharpening choil. In which case it definitely wouldn't be covered under warranty (but also wouldn't be a problem that needed to be fixed). But either way I wouldn't count on any warranty coverag...

Re: Spyderco warranty question

Thanks everybody. All good advice! I bought my Manix from this pawn shop and it turned out to be legit, but you are correct. I probably would not be able to spot a good copy. From what I have read on this forum, Spyderco's seem to be a popular target for countefeiters. Whenever I do get a PM2, I wil...

Spyderco warranty question

I saw what I think was a PM2 in a pawn shop a few weeks ago. They were selling it for $50.00 and it appeared to be in good shape. When the guy working there took it out of the case, I noticed it had a small U shaped chunk missing from the blade. The chip was probably a little less that quarter of an...

Re: Is this a fake?

I agree that whomever made this knife could have left the Spyderco name off of it, changed the blade shape a bit, and just made it look at bit more original, and it would be a decent knife. It has been pretty much a beater knife and I have been using it to cut up cardboard. It keeps a good edge. Is ...

Re: Problem sharpening a Mannix 154CM

I am not sure if my pull through angle settings are per side. I would guess that but would have to find my instructions. However, I have seemed to get the Lansky sharpening system figured out, and have made my old Manix razor sharp! I am sure somebody skilled at using conventional stones could do be...

Re: Is this a fake?

No worries everybody. I also feel that way about fakes. Really, if I had known 100% that the knife I bought was a fake, I would never have purchased it. I gambled and lost. All of you have taught me a lot and maybe it will help me to keep from making the same mistake twice.

Re: Is this a fake?

If you think that hunk of crap is "very well made" you ought to try a legitimate spyderco knife. That way you aren't supporting thieves and you can see for yourself what "very well made" actually means. I own two Spyderco knives, a Mannix and a Tenacious. I had a good idea when ...

Re: Is this a fake?

Several things. The clip is wrong. The way this is bent is in no way how spyderco makes theirs. The edge profile is wrong. The actual PM2 has way more belly than I'm seeing here. This edge has a prob that looks straight. But the biggest thing is that this knife is a liner lock. Spyderco has never m...

Re: Is this a fake?

Not that it matters, but it has been a very good knife and it is very well made! Welcome to the forum. Yes it’s a fake. Yes it matters. No that is not a very good knife. No it is not well made. Thank you for your response, but no need to get defensive. I only own two Spyderco knives and you all kno...

Is this a fake?

I have a feeling it is since I got it at a flea market. It was only $25.00, so at the time I bought it, I thought this is either the deal of a lifetime, or if not, I only spent $25.00!! Not that it matters, but it has been a very good knife and it is very well made! Thanks!! https://i.ibb.co/M8vDvqy...

Re: Problem sharpening a Mannix 154CM

I'm no expert sharpener, but it sounds like you're not actually apexing the edge, which means you're not quite sharpening all the way to the very edge of the blade, so not forming a burr. I second the sharpie trick. I have a KME (similar to a lansky guided system). If I want to try to match the exi...

Problem sharpening a Mannix 154CM

Hello everybody! First time poster here. I bought a used Mannix at a pawn shop that was in good condition, but was as dull as a butter knife. I only paid $40.00 for it so I thought I was getting a great deal. Now I am not so sure! I am no expert at sharpening knives, but have been using a Smith's pu...

Re: Registration problem

Apparently, none of my posts are being put on the board other than my original one, and I cannot send any PM's. I even tried send TazKristi an email, and it never appeared in my sent box, and no copy was sent to my email. I have never had this problem with any forum. What is going on? Thanks for any...

Registration problem

Like all forums I have joined, once I put in my email address and username, an email is sent to me to activate. I have tried to do this several times now using my regular email address. I was able to join using a secondary one, but would prefer to use my main email address and a different username. ...
