Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

I have a set of his "Skinny Cut" Shaman scales, sorry about the pic, it's not the best angle, but this is what they look like.... I wasn't sure when I ordered them, but I figured with the rep he has, he probably knows what he's doing.... sure 'nuf, took me about 3 minutes after istalling to declare...

Re: Looking at the Sage 5 LW

..... I also like it more than the Para3 LW because the handle isn't as restricting (the bump near the rear of the grip makes it cramped for my large hands). Honestly, a good argument could be make that the Sage5 LW is the one to rule them all. +1 Sadly, the Sage 5 LW is not a Golden model and so p...

Re: S90V Love ~

That's some really impressive sharpening, I can get Aogami Super Blue to do that, and just about there with XHP, but I've never gotten S90V (or anything else) there, I definitely need more practice time with it... and I agree, s90v is great steel, I have 3 Spydies with it and love each and every one...

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

Micarta all the way for the comfort factor. I already unloaded my Rosewood model. Too smooth, feels like plastic, and the edges of the scales felt like they needed some fine sanding. Cruwear model has been a dream since day one! One of my favorites. That's really interesting to me, I love most mica...

I would not call it normal, but VG10 can rust as pretty much any steel but H1 can... have you tried "Bar Keepers Friend"?

Yeah, I would have a peek at this...

What kind of liners/steel/models do you have that have "a lot of dust" in them?

Re: More Jazzlicas!

Hi JMM, The current model of the Warncliffe Delica was requested, promoted and was the driving force behind our making of a Warncliffe Delica was created by Jazz. He presented rational argument for the effectiveness of such a model in his work. We made a prototype for him to test. He approved of th...

I have the blackout, TiCN coated Sabre-Ground combo edge endura, it's my favorite of any endura I have ever had.... The delica is equally impressive . . .

They really need to do a Manix in this combination.
+1. Heck yeah, I would jump at that configuration!

While we're at it, that colour scheme & configuration would make a beautiful Shaman IMO.

Re: Spyderco Shaman - Which one?

Ok, so first on the money thing, please look at the "crazy deals 2" thread, BNIB base s30v/g10 shipped free for 129. That's Manix2 cost, although for me it's not a monetary issue at all. Here's what I have experienced in *my* usage/needs, again, I'm not slighting the Manix2 platform, I love it, but ...

Re: Spyderco Shaman - Which one?

the standard shaman isn't a reasonable price either. the manix 2 in the same materials is $80 cheaper and even cheaper still in a lightweight model. if you’re bent on the compression lock and g10, the paramilitary 2 in the same materials is still $50 cheaper. “but that’s because they have thinner b...

Re: Manix 2 liners

I guess I can see that (reduced cost), although I think that the real cost of skeletonizing a liner is minimal compared to other cost concerns like blade steel and assembly complexity... my bet is that the Manix stays so affordable due to a lock mechanism that doesn't rely on precision fitting, rat...

Re: River's Edge PM2

Not yet, they are generally pretty tight lipped at this stage, as pretty much everyone doing an Exclusive, especially given the way the Para3 version went... I hope they order a bunch, I'm not a super big PM2 fan, but I would like one for sure, but not enough to pay $400+ in the secondary market lik...

Re: When your first RIT dye job goes bad....

I can speak from personal experience, you can truly un-rit-dye pretty much anything in two steps, provided you have not used "Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative" to seal-the-deal... Step 1. Place the scales in 100% acetone -- you can use fingernail polish remover, it doesn't work as well with the scents & c...

Re: Knife too thin

Yes. Long ago, in "The Dark Times" -- before I was introduced to the wonderful world of Spydie's, I had a SOG SlimJim XL, in theory it seemed like a good idea, super slim, should carry in the back pocket well. First day of carrying it, the third time I used it I think, but the first time I put any m...
