Re: CPM 15v Manix 2

While I love Triple B and think this collaboration is fantastic, I am sitting this one out. The only reason is because I fully recognize that my sharpening skills are not up to the task of maintaining 15V. I am happy with my 52100 Manix and SPY27 Manix LW, and those steels are much more manageable ...

Re: Corrosion and Edge Retention

Does anyone have experience using edci? Does it leave any tangible residue?

If I have to touch up my knife every time I use it, it kinda takes the joy out of having a super high edge retention steel. It would only be useful for one really long cutting task.

Re: Knife Washers

I’m guessing in part it has to do with the reactivity of the particular steels and how corrosion resistant they need the knife to be.

For the Ayoob I just looked it up and it sounds like it was Ayoob’s call

Hi JD,

You are welcome, but you certainly worked for it.

Aaron,

I'm still the CEO and President.

My mistake! I could have sworn Eric took over a few years ago, what was I thinking of? Did he take over a separate role?

Re: Corrosion and Edge Retention

Happy someone posted this as I thought I was going crazy. I experienced this with my S30V Manix 2. I know it is stainless but I would get a great edge on it, pocket carry it for a week or two barely using it. Then when I would need it it would not have the same bite. I also am in the DC area with h...

I take my culinary knives to much higher degrees of polish and sharpness, and consistently expose them to corrosive foods every day, so I'd see this sort of things pretty fast I'd imagine.
Actually, I think higher polish —> more corrosion resistance so you just gave me an idea to try

Re: Corrosion and Edge Retention

I definitely notice a difference as you say. The fine edge leaves fast in humidity. My solution was to switch to more corrosion resistant steels. I think it would be hard to apply something to the edge that would stay there through use, and reapplying every time it gets used just isn't something I'...

Corrosion and Edge Retention

Hi all, I’ve always operated on the assumption that corrosion is a primarily aesthetic issue. I don’t care much about stainlessness, and don’t bother oiling my knives. I like tool steel performance and a clean blade (honestly I hate handling anything that’s sticky or oily, not sure which is worse). ...

Minor point of information - Sal isn’t the CEO anymore, Eric is. But it’s very cool that Sal’s opinions and expertise are still so respected, he’s so involved in the forum, and they both care so much about the community.

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2

I like the steel, but don't like the color, can it be dyed? It could be hard since it's pretty dark color to begin with, right? I feel the same. I don’t know much about dying, but you could always get aftermarket scales! People have been super psyched about AWT linerless Manix scales, but il a big ...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2

Just saw this Manix S110V knife break on Facebook. Few comments mention that S110V, Maxamet break the most and some predict 15V Manix will be worse. Can knives break like this trying to cut plastic ties???? I would only think sideways pressure and abuse would do this. DEFA5379-8893-43EF-B0BB-7CEE08...

Voted thinness, but M4 is no slouch. I wouldn’t necessarily say Maxamet is better as a general statement, it’s superior in some ways but it really depends on your use.
