Re: Any plans for a standard-sized Compression Lock Native?
Just wanted to bump this again... I know it’s an old thread, but I really want a native 5 AND really hate back locks. I’m sure I’m not the only one. I know many on this forum love back locks and I’m not complaining that the original version uses one, but a comp lock or ball bearing lock version woul...

Re: Para 3 K390 Ranger green from BBS!
Based on everything I’ve seen online as well as my fairly limited use (I’ve carried the k390 a bit and touched it up but haven’t fully resharpened it), it seems to perform far better.rabbitanarchy14 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 11:02 pmi am so in for this one. i have wanted to try k390. just one question is k390 just a non stainless m390.

Re: Super happy with my New Mantra 2
For real. I love how much attention the Mantra 2 is getting lately because I’m really, really hoping for an updated version in the future. It was a great knife to begin with and would be even better with improved washers and maybe even a solid CF show side.

Re: Peel-ply Carbon Fiber Peeling?
Hello, I'm new to the forum and new to Spyderco knives in general. Earlier this year I purchased a Sage 5 and immediately knew it was a solid knife. 4 months later under light use the carbon fiber scale on the non-lock side began to peel off pretty severly, about 1/16" in the groove behind the...

.... FYI, I'm working on a new design based on a modified Shaman pattern so I pulled out all of the original drawings. The first drawing of the Shaman was dated December 17, 2014. That can give you an idea of how long I work on some of these creations. sal I wonder what this might be-- maybe a back...

Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
A denim Micarta, S30V.... and backlock Shaman would be an instant buy for me! ;) (Honestly, and not intending to derail this thread, I think the Shaman is such a great model especially ergonomicwise, that there would be a market for both a comp lock and a backlock version, for those are the two most...

Re: Blade tip repair
Tape a piece of sandpaper to a counter or work bench and grind the spine down until your tip is pointy again. I’ve done it many, many times. I was gonna suggest doing this on a stone (I’ve done it a whole bunch), but I like the idea of using sandpaper since it’s more disposable and you won’t have t...

Honestly this adhesive is on some kind of steroids, rubbing alcohol is my go-to and it hasn’t worked at all for this! Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll give acetone a try. Not sure about availability in the US but Eucalyptus Oil dissolve any adhesive reside on contact. :) Good to know! Pretty sure I...

Re: Who wants a Dodo?
Genuinely surprised how much hate my favorite steel is getting! I’d be intrigued but any recurve is a no-go for me since I sharpen on stones, not rods. I actually really enjoy the design, though... it’s got tons of personality, and there’s definitely nothing like it in my collection. Plus the ball b...

I think it’s probably an issue of not being able to please us all - since they reduced their loctite from what they used to do, this’ll probably happen on very rare occasion.

Re: Any chance for a slysz bowie sprint?
Been kicking myself ever since I just barely missed a chance to get one for $300 from ApostleP.
A sprint run or a revival of the model would be awesome for fans/users and would be a well-deserved kick in the nuts for folks who sell a $300 for $600 on the secondary market.

Re: Rosewood shaman and CITES treaty
Yikes! Very good to know. So I wonder if these can be sold internationally. Probably, since there are already multiple other knives made with rosewood handles and sold internationally. I think the bigger concern is as an individual traveling with it, depending on the country you’re visiting and how...

Re: Rosewood shaman and CITES treaty
Wow, I hadn't heard about this. So I guess it applies to rosewood that's been treated/processed as well as to the raw wood? What's the issue - is there concern about pest or blight contamination or something? There have been horror stories of customs confiscating and destroying rosewood guitars, ev...

Oof, I was aware of this issue as a musician but I totally hadn’t connected the dots to apply it to rosewood knives. This is a really good question.

Folding knife. Need something to kick the K390 Police 4 out of my pocket. I read over the entire thread about a week ago, but I don’t recall whether this was stated or I just assumed - can anyone with a better memory than my own remind me whether this will be a folder or a fixed blade, so that I do...
