Re: Police 4 LW Salt Edition?

Yes, a linerless Police salt like the stretch xl. I would definitely get one. Even if the frn had to be slightly thicker to handle the linerless option. While magnacut would be nice/preferred, h2 or maybe lc200n would be ok - especially since getting magnacut to seki may not happen for quite a while ...

One of favorite dragonfly knives. I wish I had bought more than one.

Re: Last Minute Decision

Times/technology have changed. When I was younger, I carried a lot more stuff with me. You might need something to get by for a week or so, and not many people were out there.

Now, a smart phone can show your location to others, and even text via satellite with no cell phone coverage. I am not a ...

Re: My three favorite Spyderco folder designs

1: Dragonfly. Little big knife perfection. Sal nailed it with this one.
2: Chaparral. Small, slim, tough for its size, great slicer, stop pin lock stability, aesthetic options/choices. Perfect gentlemen’s knife that can actually do some incredible tasks for its size.
3: torn for the 3rd best design ...

Re: .22 mag for hiking

I agree with Doc. Lots of options in a 38. Rat/snake shot, up to specialty 38 +p+ loads that are basically 357 magnum level.

I put titanium 357 cylinders in a couple smith 38special airweight aluminum jframes to save weight. -- Note: I DO NOT fire 357 magnum in them. I stick with the scandium ...

Re: Still The Best Pocketknife Ever

These are the two I have carried the most over the past 1-2 years. The k390 much more so.

For me, the dragonfly is the best pocket knife. I remove the clips on my pocket knives. Light and small, but oh so practical. Little big knife.

I am trying the Vivi brown ...

Re: .22 mag for hiking

I do not carry as much when just hiking now, as I did when I was younger. Only once did I truly need one. Now, if I do carry, it is a lightweight 38 revolver with dewc bullets. Most of the time, I just carry walking/hiking sticks.

A 22 magnum can do the job, but over the years I kept coming back ...

Re: “Little knife for a week” challenge.

A lot depends on what folks do. I got by with just a manbug for 8 months. I did not need a bigger folding knife the whole time. I used a pruning saw a couple times, and maybe a machete or axe versus just the manbug on weekends, though…

Re: Still The Best Pocketknife Ever

Yes. Since it came out.

I really like the chaparral, and I thought it was my favorite for a few years, but have come back around to the dragonfly.

I really like and use some larger knives, too, just not as often, by far..

Re: Best Spyderco Knife for Everyday Carry?

Personally I prefer to pocket carry without a clip the majority of the time. The dragonfly is my most carried. The chaparral probably second. The delica/native/salt2 are the largest I have used clipless.

For something larger, the stretch 2 in k390 is what I prefer, but the endura/pac salt are ...

Re: Ordered MT36 K294, got a MT38 M398?

Call spyderco, they are very helpful and will make things right.

The m398 is stainless and holds a decent edge. The k294 may hold its edge slightly longer, but is a tool steel and is susceptible to stains/rust more readily.

Lucky to get an m398, but I would still call.

Re: What was your 1st Spyderco, and …

First spyderco I purchased was a se dragonfly in 1994-95

Favorite, probably the same. There are a few other models I like quite a bit, but I carry a dragonfly the most.

Re: Military VS Police

If I had to pick one, I would pick the police. But it would be a tough choice. While I prefer the military over an all ss police, I have carried a police 4 more overall.
