Yes perfect timing Larrin! Really sounds like this is a good knife steel. I'm guessing the manufacturing costs associated with the grinding and polishing make other options more attractive for companies. Again, thanks Spyderco for taking on the tough jobs for us knife nerds!

I actually like to sharpen my kitchen knives, but then when they're used on a plate.... argh! And then see the flat spots caused on the blade, I figure why bother.

Yes sorry for your loss. While the search for a replacement continues (or until Sal does a SE of the Stretch 2) the Endela SE is of similar size or as soon as the Rockjumper SE comes out, maybe that will fill the void for awhile.

Hmmmm yeah you're probably right about the thickness of the Chap, and a smaller ball in the lock would make it very difficult for folks with sausages for fingers to operate. Ah well it was a fun thought excercise.
