Re: How do S110V and ZDP-189 Compare?

Sorry, I dont have any comparison for you, as I too do not own any s110v blades, but do have some zdp189. In my experience it is not terribly rust resistant. Out of all the various "stainless" steels I've laid my hands on, only two of them ever have showed signs of corrosion. XHP and zdp189. Both we...

Re: I Finally Get Deep Carry Pocket Clips... For Chinos.

I only buy pants, carpenter jeans mostly, with angled pockets. I feel like it keeps my knife and flashlight at the outer edge of the pockets better. And I use the leg pocket for a pen and Knipex pliers. With that said, I dislike deep carry clips altogether. I value ease of access over concealment. P...

Re: Spyderco Siren Release Date?

any word on when bladehq will drop theirs? I am pretty sure most dealers, especially the big ones like BHQ, have already shipped out the first batch that they got in. Obviously it was not enough to satisfy all of the preorders. I myself am still waiting on KnifeCenter. Others have gotten theirs by ...

Re: blade play

Just about every backlock that I can remember owning, Spyderco or not, had a miniscule amount of vertical play. Nothing to worry about.

Re: Spyderco DLC question

DLC that I have encountered does not appear to be simply sitting on the surface like a paint-type coating. It acts like it is one with the material to which it as applied. Now, I dont have much experience with it in knives, because I like satin blades for the most part, but I have been seeing it in ...

Re: Mule Team Survey

1) Yes. I purchased a new one in pd1 a few years ago. I also bought 3 others at the latest seconds sale. 2) I made a g10 and box elder burl handle for that first one. The others will get handles too, when I find time. 3) I made a kydex sheath 4) I wouldn't say I've done any real "testing", just some...

Re: Your "return ethics"?

Very few of us have a store nearby that stocks more than just a couple Spyderco models. But all of us have access to the internet. There are many resources available online to sell, or trade, unwanted knives.

Re: Bottom of pocket/clipless carry ?

On the rare occasions that I carry a Dragonfly I just drop it into my front pocket. Mostly because I dont feel like it is very secure when clipped onto it. Its so small and light that I can hardly tell it's even on my pocket to begin with, and then it doesnt have far to go to lift up enough to fall ...

Very interesting material. I've tried looking at my edges with a jewelers loupe before, but I'll just stop that now.

I did a similar mod on my Domino. Not only was that lockbar stiff and squared off, but it has jimping too! Made for a sore thumb, especially the first few days with it. Knocked the corners down a bit with a round ceramic rod.

Re: Just ordered some Nano Oil *cough snake oil cough*

I just use whatever I already have handy. Usually it's 3in1 or Remoil. I've veen known to use motor oil or ATF too. IMO, knives are incredibly simple machines, and are not subject to harsh or demanding conditions. Practically any oil will do a reasonable job of slicking up the action and keeping cor...

Re: External Stop Pins

The way I see it is that the external pins on the Sub-hilt provide a substantial steel-on-steel interface to stop the energy of the swinging blade when in it's automatic configuration. Lots of knives, other autos even, have tiny little stop pins, sometimes mounted in aluminum. Not exactly confidence...

Re: It`s official folks: New Star Trek Series: "Picard"!

Cant wait! I grew up watching TNG here and there. Not every episode. I mean, it interested me, but I was a kid, I had other things to do. Lol. I watched the entire series on Netflix a few years ago. I enjoyed every minute of it. Then I tried to get into some of the other shows too. Voyager was decen...
