Re: Salt color differences
My LC200N Native is my only Golden LW atm, but there’s a Manix salt and a UKPK salt in my not too distant future. Just need for them to show up at European dealers. Green LC200N UKPK appears to be in stock at the major European dealers... thanks for the heads up. I think I’ve seen the green one in ...

Re: Salt color differences
Hah.. learning something new every once in a while. I had somehow come to the understanding that all Golden LWs were FRCP. Anyhow, I also had similar concerns as you when I got my Native salt. The yellow color was noticeably different than the Seki salts I already owned. It is also my impression th...

Re: Forum Update/Maintenance & Move - PLEASE READ
Great work Kristi and team! Back in time for my saturday morning coffee, doesn’t get any better than that. No let’s see what happens at 9AM ..that’s in one minute - gotto post Edit to add: posting seems to be much snappier than before, and it’s now 9AM CET and the forum is not showing “General error...

Re: Any recommendations?
It's hard for a random joe on the internet to visualize exactly how your arthritis interferes with lock operation, so outside Sal's recommendation of omitting the lock altogether, you'd be better off going to a knife store and try before you buy. If such a store exits in your area. Side note: I have...

Re: Serrated S110V (and other steels)
I was using my S110V UKPK just now and thought to myself “man, the edge retention on this thing would be outrageous in SE”. After a quick google I couldn’t find anything in SE S110V of any brand, which led me down a bit of a rabbit hole looking at other steels and their SE availability (cru-wear wa...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Hoping to snag one of those too.
Spyderco seems to be doing a great job with high edge retention tool steels, and I can appreciate that effort, but I only need so much of that stuff. Thin and light however, that bucket isn’t even half full yet.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
I'll reserve judgement until I've had one in hand, but 1mm stock on the charisma might be too thin for me. Never thought I'd say that about a production knife. The z-cut blade is already very flexible and at 1.3mm it's 30% thicker than the charisma. Reserving judgement is probably the way to approa...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
i'm confused why people are worried about this knife breaking. it's a small blade and it's only 1mm thick. this knife clearly isn't made for applying any kind of lateral force. it's made for slicing and opening your mail, not for building a cabin in the woods. agree 100%. If the Charisma only had a...

Re: Tracking the prices of knives over the years
Did a quick search in my inbox A Benchmade 940-2 (G-10) was one of the first knives I ordered domestically in Norway after I got into (folding)knives. In August of 2016 I paid NOK1469 ( USD141 at current exchange rate). A similarly quick search on Google shopping returned one domestic store offering...

This reveal is determined to hit hard.
I've managed to avoid the Sage for the longest time, but it's becoming ever harder.
Thanks for all the great photos, Mr. Blonde!

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?
This isn’t in response to anyone in particular just in general but I think some people are missing the point of a commemorative anniversary knife like this. It’s not meant to be a heavy user - they make thousands of those knives every year. It’s not supposed to be more of the same with a tiny littl...

Re: Forum Maintenance & Moving
.... That general error thing is not a sign of instability: Each day (in the US actually night, so when the forum is not highly attended) at the exact same time this happens deliberately for a few minutes, I guess for maintenance reasons... In my (and I guess also your) timezone this is always at 9...

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?
OK, this is a shot in the dark, and I suspect not one that is likely to win the popular vote, but you only get to pitch ideas for anniversary knives every so often, and seeing this thread and a resurrected Harpy thread pop up around the same time made some dots connect and got me thinking.. I have a...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
seems they have put a lot of effort into getting 15V right, so it only makes sense that it sicks around. To me, the fact that they now reveal 15V versions of models that doesn't already have a Maxamet version only strengthens that hypothesis, but like Mr. Blonde says, we won't know for sure until we...

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?
I hope to see something useful, so it's at least a "worker" in spirit'. It's a lot easier for me to justify a working knife, than over the top materials that are just for looking at. Maybe add bolsters and micarta for a touch of style and throwback to days past, that would be nice enough t...
