Re: China
Hi Sal, I’m located in Australia and won’t be buying knives from China. The way they rip off designers and manufacturers and underpay their workers is not something I’d ever endorse. Happy to pay a bit more for the USA (and Taiwan )made stuff

Re: Has the size of serrations changed over the years?
Great topic.
Definitely changed over the years.
Take the Military for example.
First batch had relatively shallow serrate with moderate teeth.
Gen two had wicked pointer serrations with slightly angled/raked teeth.
Modern versions seem to be somewhere in between.

Re: Liner Lock Failure??
The compression lock is superb but I still have a soft spot for the liner lock if it’s engineered correctly- as Spyderco always do.
The Military has been one of my favourite folders since it first appeared in the mid 90s and I have never had one come close to failing.

More C36 vintage goodness
Hi guys, I picked up another Military from ‘96 today. A satin serrated 440v model in mint condition. Locks up like a bank vault. Can’t fault it. Interesting to compare the 1st gen serrations to the more aggressive 2nd gen version.
Love these golden oldies

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?
I know I’m in the minority on this one but I’m not a big fan of the stop lock. Isn’t it just a variation on the backlock?
It ruins the lines on the handle.
I’ve had Militarys for nearly 25 years and never had any issues with the liner lock.

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?
It has gradually been improved over the past 23 years. I can think of at least four main generations with some smaller tweaks added in between.

Just put my reading glasses on and see that it’s made in Taiwan.
They are making amazingly high quality knives there.

Re: Zoomer
That’s a helluva deal.
I read on the specs that it has two pieces of g10 for the handle but I can’t see how it’s held together? How’s the g10 fitted to the blade?
In the pics above it looks like one solid piece of g10 that’s been milled out.
Where’s it made?

Re: Zoomer
Congrats on the score mate, looking forward to your thoughts on it.
I haven’t held one yet but the handle looks like it should be a beauty.
Love the blade design too.
