Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
November 25th is coming up! we will see if it drops after then. With the economy as it is I am wondering if the days of sprits selling out in an hour are over. This is one I don’t want to miss, this and the BBB folder. Has there been any update about the BBB folder? I could tell if we were getting ...

Re: Sage 5 Lightweight Frenzy
I believe Sal mentioned last year that Sage 5 LWs sprints might be in the works. It should be in the Casual Bombshells thread.

Re: Sage 5 / LW5 Rex45 ?????????????
It's definitely time the Sage 5 LW got a sprint run. I'd pick up one instantly in any high-carbide steel.

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread
From the "Shaman - Primal Instincts" thread: Hi Julia, Do you know how much thinner it is %? I usually thin out most of my blades for personal use. We use good enough steels to handle it. Just as a bit of a tease; I mentioned earlier that there are two more versions based on th Shaman patt...

Hi Julia, Do you know how much thinner it is %? I usually thin out most of my blades for personal use. We use good enough steels to handle it. Just as a bit of a tease; I mentioned earlier that there are two more versions based on th Shaman pattern. One is thinner stock and a lighter handle and the...

Re: Your New Knife Ritual
I'll do a quick check to make sure everything looks right, and then so long as the factory edge is acceptably sharp (it almost always is) I put it in my pocket and will use it and fidget with it constantly. That lets me get a feel for the cutting ability, and gets the action broken in. After a week ...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?
Having had the opportunity to play with a variety of Spydercos in different steels, I've found myself gravitating heavily towards the high-carbide steels. The reason being not necessarily wear resistance, but the fact that the carbides provide a very aggressive edge character, especially with a coar...

Re: Stable edge steels (NOT TOUGHNESS)
I'm sure BBB will be along soon to comment with more info, but based on a lot of the tests I've seen, and my own experiences, Rex 45, K390, and 10V should definitely be among the front runners.

Re: Does S110V actually chip a lot or are people just not using their knives right?
Just got my first S110V knife a couple weeks ago (Native 5 LW). Been carrying it everyday since. Cut a few zipties with it, and there was no damage whatsoever. Only damage that occurred was when my fiancee used it to cut some cheese, blade slipped and hit the granite counter quite hard. And that jus...

Re: Rex 121
I would love anything in Rex121. Preferably a PM2 or Military. But I'll happily settle for a Mule if that's all we get.

Re: Kapara in s90v?
For what it's worth, I absolutely love the Kapara, but I've been holding off on buying one until there is a version in a more wear resistant steel. LC200N, S90V, S110V, M390 would all be an instant buy for me.

Re: Manix2 XL vs Shaman
I much prefer the Shaman. The hook on the back of the Manix2 XL handle doesn't work for me. It's also a ton of knife for not much cutting edge. The 3D g10 of the Shaman handle is just so much more comfortable and solid feeling. Cutting performance is about equivalent - thicker stock on the Shaman is...

Re: S90V Love ~
Definitely in agreement on S90V. I didn't see what the fuss was all about originally, but after I got a PM2 in it, I've been blown away with the edge character, wear resistance and toughness. It's probably the best all-round EDC steel. I can see why Spyderco uses it on a lot of their high end models...

Re: Intro to tool steel?
I'd recommend M4, but also 52100, Cruwear, AEB-L, or Superblue. Stay away from Rex, it's a pain to deburr. Maxamet is a little less tough, so even though it's my favorite steel currently, I would not recommend it as an introductory steel.

Military and Shaman for me. The Millie because of the great curve to the handle that blends into the negative blade angle. The Shaman for the hand-filling 3D machined G10 scales
