Re: Community Sharpening Journal

Reprofiled the Dragonfly on a Galley V. I used 80 grit sandpaper wrapped around the ceramic rods to hog off the steel and then finished with 400 grit paper. I'm tempted to pick up a set of CBN rods but I don't think they'll last very long when taking off this much steel. I think the Galley V is sup...

A couple minutes after this pic was taken, I snapped off a decent part of the hook on the Matriarch cutting some plastic strapping :(
Aww man that sucks! How bad is it?

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Tough to capture the color perfectly. I'm happy with how the dye job turned out. This is the color combo I keep asking Spyderco to use......green scales, blacked out everything else, with a nice DLC carbon steel. https://i.postimg.cc/28XWCd5Q/20201031-013239-HDR.jpg ^ This one is the most accurate ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

cleaned off, or letting the chemistry happen? Cleaned off, just wanted to see how a pink lemon tasted. :D I´d wipe of my REX 45 Manix too after cutting a lemon (like I would any knife), but other than that (cutting food): DO you let "chemistry happen" on your REX 45 blade(s)? I do, and it is really...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

I really wish I could understand this stropping compound stuff, I'm honestly totally clueless. Heck, I don't think I even maintain or properly use my KnivesPlus strop as it is. Sometimes I feel I actually lose my edge, even with a couple light passes. Very frustrating. I felt that way before. There...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

I was told by a guy on another forum a couple of years ago that there is also a variant of typing paper called "Onion Skin" typing paper that is really very thin and flimsy and has similar results. So what do you guys think? Or is there some other material more superior for testing sharp edges? I r...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

So I decided I wanted to thin out this machete a bit and repair some pretty bad edge damage. Still needs a little work, but it was also more of a trial for me with free hand sharpening. I've done it before but scratched up the blade a bit, so I figured with this being beat up already it wouldn't re...

Re: Help with stained/patina Rex 45 military

Flitz and a Dremel with a felt buffing wheel should remove it but it'll be shinier than the original finish.
