Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?

Easy. S110V just been a fantastic long cutting steel. Takes patience to sharpen, but i have the time. Maxamet same as S110V but even beastier on the retention, and required patience. HAP40. Takes an edge unlike anything else ive worked with. And really nice retention.

Re: My Native 5 Lightweight

I love the Native. I dont have sprints. I do have G10 and LW in S110 and S30. Plus Maxamet and the Lc200n salt. They are just all handy, feel good in pocket and hand. Maybe ill get lucky with a sprint or two!

Re: ‘Carbides in Maxamet’ article in the Scienceofsharp

Hi Cambertree, Great link and source. Thanx much. Very informative. We're working on a straight razor with Dr. Mike Blue. Mike, Howard Clark and ed Schempp are my mentors on heat treating the razor in Bainite. Once we get going, we'd like to try straight razors in other materials. It will be intere...

Re: Asking for help, for a second time!

I didnt read the other replies, ill just give my own thoughts. S30V will be a better steel for MOST people. Its far easier to work with than S110V. S110V is significantly harder, which makes sharpening quite a bit more challenging, and you really should look at diamond abrasives for that reason. It ...

Re: G10 Delica/Endura in Super Gold

I am really interested in the super gold, but honestly i love the enduras i have enough to want a g-10 version in almost anything Spyderco would care to use as a blade steel. And now that i understand the complexities of pricing on G10 from Seki i wont care about the cost! (Big thanks again for the ...

Re: First time spyderco owner--love it!

Hello every one, I just joined the forum tonight and this is my first post of many I'm sure. I have been soaking up the knowledge on this forum for the last week or two and have since that time purchased my first ever knife over the $50 dollar Mark--a PM2 black s30v!! My co-workers all carry variou...

Just don't sharpen it over your food and you should be safe. I know everyone likes a little extra cheese at olive garden but don't grate the steel over your meals.
Lol!

Re: Caribbean love.

My PE Caribbean leaf is my favorite Spyderco knife, period. It's the most comfortable in use, as well. It's my only LC200N knife so far, and it's become perhaps my favorite steel for its various qualities. I like it way better than H1. I will admit, it looks odd and isn't the prettiest knife in the...

I am with you on the lock. I think the comp. lock is an ingenious design and has it´s place, but I personally prefer a backlock. Concerning the "hook": I am just courious: I get, that you don´t like it, if it interferes with your large hands (so does not give you enough room / cramps your...

Re: Caribbean love.

I would be okay with it if there were enough room. It is not as smooth a design with it, but I could live with it. The Military has it right. It keeps your hand from slipping backwards, but it is rounded off enough that a little finger can ride on top if need be. Of course, the Military handle is s...

Re: Caribbean love.

I've been wanting a serrated leaf version for a long time. They were truly impressive when I handled one at SMK. did you buy a plain edge? Or going to wait for a spyderedge? I have seen posts describing how poorly some steels seem to respond to serrations. I wonder if anyone has serrated LC200N and...
